Ben deserves to start at the home opener. He won...and Reimer isn't exactly an all star goalie whose huge ego has to be looked after.

Is there less preasure on Komisarek now that he is no longer an Alternate Captain?

Since Komisarek is no longer one of the Alternate Captains does anyone think it's a good thing and maybe there is less preasure on him because of this change? For example he doesn't have to worry about playing a specifc way because of that extra responsibility.

Kessel, his compete level is just atrocious imo. But I'm not a fan of his anyways.
seriously.gif

Give Grabs and Koolaid a break for a few games. They are coming from slow Euro play - decision making is going to be off until they can mentally catch up to the speed of NHL game.

The Habs need Subban badly.

I thought Phaneuf looked a lot quicker than last year, Kostka to me was the best d-man out there. He and Dion had good chemistry. Liles also looked good. Franson, and Gunner were average, Komi, man he's got to go imo.

Kadri had a couple hiccups but looked pretty solid, great goal. Bozak put in a strong effort. I thought Mac had a decent game as well, the fourth line did alright. It was kind of a snoozer, but if I had to pick the best line tonight, it would be Komarov, Kadri & JVR.

Ben looked a bit nervous, especially playing the puck, but he made some big saves!

It's always a great feeling beating the Habs!

Really? I thought Komisarek was one of our best D-man tonight.

While most of the other players haven't actually played anywhere for 3+ months? Right.

It makes no difference, it's nothing new from Grabo.

Kostka was damn impressive for an overaged rook - really steady game. Looking at Kostka and Kadri should give us an idea that we should keep all our prospects in the AHL for 3-4 years (much like Detroit)l

Other than the typical Phaneuf blunder (Still don't know why this guy is captain) and some very sloppy play in the last 15 minutes of Period 3 this was a pretty good game for the Leafs considering they had no pre-season and most haven't played in 9 months.

Boring game too though. Both teams looked bad in the 1st period and parts of the 2nd.

how so? effort on the forecheck, skating with speed

grabbing two assist
wtf?

Haters are going to hate.

Kessel was the best forward tonight. He was on the forecheck, and he came back every time the D needed help.

If he buys into Carlyle's system, he'll easily be a PPG+ player...because Kessel can out skate 99% of this league.

yes!

colborne, ashton, frattin etc
dont give up on them

I'm already tired of some of you guys. People already hating on Kessel when I thought he played very well.... What? Phaneuf was also solid but he's getting a lot of hate...

I just don't understand this teams fans sometimes.
