Scrivens lookin' good out there.
I wouldn't say he looked that good. rebound control was terrible. good d effort as a team helped to keep that from hurting him.

played okay but didn't have too hard of a night IMO

Gus in net now for Detroit being blown out by blues. 5 - 0 if anyone wants to see how the monsters doing.

Anyone else notice that tool Healy trying to pass off the 27 year old Kostka, and 26 year old (a week away) Komarov as "playing the kids"?

I'm glad we played the smurfs first, or this could have turned out bad. The Habs were even worse than in last year's season opener, at least Reimer had to earn his win. Scrivens just basically had to show up at ACC. He looked pretty bad out there.

Grabo is in his usual pre-season form, it seems.

I dont get why your calling them the "smurfs", the habs are anything but small because they have added grit/size in the offseason (Prust, Armstrong, Galycehnkuv, I 'm not even a habs fan but even I can admit that.

I don't think Scrivens was that bad, shaky at first yes but he settled down after the 1st period, he did keep us in it in the 3rd though.

kulemin is such a disaster offensively, switch him with JVR and let him help out kadri defensively.
Interesting thought thinking about some future games.

Randy won't do it after this game I can assure you. But maybe after one or two weeks. He shall think that putting Kulemin - Kadri - Komarov (KKK-line) together will drop Kadri's points severely. Komarov can put a goal here and there, but this Kulemin guy..... jeez, I don't know man. Like: Ever?

didnt like how they sat back in the 3rd

Exactly but with Carlyle and a defence first system, I think we are going to see a lot of it and I just hate Kitty Bar the Door play, it is not a good tactic, as far as I'm concerned.

Phaneuf was fine. That was Kulemin's man, not his. Kadri should've played much more. Hopefully he gets 15+ next game. MacArthur was good, just dragged down by Kulemin and Grabovski (seriously, what the hell guys?). Kessel looks like he hasn't missed a step , even improved if anything. Bozak's just as good as he was last season, Lupul's a bit behind but he'll be fine. Decent game, not great, but meh. We'll see exactly how bad (or good) this team can get when they play Buffalo.

MGK line wasn't that good offensively, but they did their job defensively

Our D played spectacular, no complaints at all from me. Komi and Franson REALLY turned their games around, Phaneuf was a beast as well.

I hope we can keep this up, and it wasn't just a result of the habs sucking.

I'm not too worried about Buffalo, really they aren't that skilled only reason they're "good" is because of Miller. The team that really worries me is Pittsburgh, a healthy Crosby and Malkin= massive problems for the leafs.

This scares me. Maybe the Mayans were one year ahead in terms of their prediction. :help:

They were pretty bad, though.

Best way to start a season!! Hoping kulemin, mac and grabo can get it going cause they were flat tonight. Great game from kadri and our defence in general played well.

Beat the Habs. Not going to get overly excited about that but I definitely saw some good things tonight. Kadri was very noticeable tonight. Kostka looked good, and it seems that Carlyle really trusts him. If he plays like he did tonight I think a case could be made that Franson should be the one to take a seat when Gardiner is good to go.

Their forwards who are on the ice 90%+ of the time (ie: non scrub lineup) are still pretty soft (if not necessarily small). Komarov probably had as many hits in that game as all of their forwards combined.

I don't think Scrivens was that bad, shaky at first yes but he settled down after the 1st period, he did keep us in it in the 3rd though.

Even in the 3rd, when the Habs had some sustained pressure, they could hardly get anything on net, and certainly nothing that any AHL goalie couldn't stop.
