When should I post the Sabres vs Leafs GDT????

Tomorrow night?

GDT stands for Game Day Thread. So it should be posted on game day, not the day prior. Someone can post a Pregame thread tomorrow.

Warning: If you own the GDT and it is not up 1hr before puck drop at the latest, brace for the heat . There'll be chaos and expect things to go downhill after that... but seriously we can safely assume anything goes beyond that point (i.e. anyone is welcome to start a GDT by then).

I'm not going to get too excited about this game, the Habs looked horrible. It'll be interesting to see how the Leafs respond against better teams. Games against Buffalo, Pittsburgh and the Rangers next week should give us a better understanding of where we stand this season.

The most notable things from this game for me where:

- Kadri looked like a legitimate top 6 forward
- Kessel picked up exactly where he left off
- Komarov played the role of a bottom 6 forward very well
- Kostka played well, given the amount of minutes he had. Could be a good #4/#5 if he keeps this up.
- MKG sucked major ass
- The Habs are absolutely terrible. Another bottom 3 finish is in the cards, even if Subban returns quick enough

If Kulemin wants to be traded to Pittsburgh, I wish he'd just come out and ask for it instead of playing like crap for us!

2nd line wasn't good at all tonight, Scrivens was too shaky for my liking but the D did its job and we got the two points :handclap:

Scrivens looked really shaky. From the dump in after the prust hit where he stumbled back to the net I go the feeling like it will be one of those games. I think he needs to stay in his net more; skating is not his strong suit.

The d looked great Kostka and Phaneuf ate tons of minutes and were not a reliability at all.

Kadri played well and hit Markov hard which is nice to see

That Grabo line... ouch everytime they were on the ice nothing semed to go right for them. Hope to see them pick it up.

That line won't be kept like that if this keeps up. There is something wrong there.

Always feels good beating the Habs.

Habs lose on a face washing unsportsmanlike penalty and that has to hurt.

Scrivens was 1st star but he looked to be fighting the puck all night.

My thoughts on the game

1. I was impressed with how everyone was committed to playing defense, everyone was using their speed to keep the habs to the outside and being aggressive in not letting the habs players set anything up.

2. Kadri was amazing, he was throwing his body around, playing a 200 foot game, not to mention he made some beauty passes and scored a sick goal.

3. Komiersak stood out for me, he kept it simple and didnt' make any noticeable errors tonight (shocking I know), he also was extremely physical out there.

4. I didn't like Grabos game tonight at all, the guy tried to go 1 on 3 too many times tonight, he didnt do a good job at utilizing his linemates and he had an excellent scoring chance in the 3rd only to mess it up by deciding to cut to his backhand.

5. Scrivens looked shaky at first up until halfway through the 1st but he calmed down and was steady in net the rest of the way.

6. The leafs looked like the leafs of old in the 3rd, being pinned in their own end the majoiryt of the time and not being able to make a simple pass OR skate it out, this is something that Carlyle MUST address going into next game because we're playing with fire only a matter of time before we get burned.

So after tonight

LEAFS ON PACE FOR 48-0 SEASON

KESSEL ON PACE FOR 96 POINTS

KADRI ON PACE FOR 48 GOALS

HABS ON PACE FOR FIRST WINLESS SEASON EVER

:D

Leafs win! Leafs win! Leafs win!

Bit of a sloppy game but we were the better team for 50 minutes.

Great:
Kadri
Kessel
Kostka
Komarov
Bozak

Good:
MacArthur
Liles
Gunnarsson
McClement
Van Riemsdyk

Bad:
Grabovski
Kulemin
Phaneuf

How was Phaneuf bad? I'd like to hear your rationale.

We outplayed them, sure. The 3rd period was pretty brutal.
I really liked it in the third. Sit back and back up those points. Randy style. Not take chances. They didn't get so many good scoring chances in the third because of Randy's sharp playbook and abilities to play the winning chess game.

I knew we'd score on that PP. It just happens that stupid penalties like that result in a GA. It turned out to be the GWG. Awesome. Such an unnecessary move.

Was expecting a better fight when prust and brown dropped the gloves but we picked up the win so i cant complain much. Good thing they got rid of Ron Wilson or else Kadri would be back in the minors again already.

Felt like Kadri played 18 minutes tonight.

I'm amazed it's just under 10 minutes.

He made an impression though, and was rewarded with a shift in the last minute of the game.

I can't believe he played as little as he did considering how over-his-head he was playing. Solid defensive positioning, threw 3 hard hits including standing up one of the more solid players in Prust and was buzzing around with the puck every time he got it.

Perhaps it was simply because the rest of his line was playing nowhere near as well as he was (even though Komarov wasn't that bad).

If he plays only 10 minutes again in the home opener, I'm going to start wondering if the management just doesn't like him for some non-hockey reason, 'cause he looks like he's finally arrived.
