Post-Game Talk: Leafs embarrass the pens and dubas, shut them down. WIN 7-0

Pure domination.

And it could have been more Reilly hit 2 crossbars.

Willy had a goal and assist but yeah the depth showed tonight some of which you can thank dubas for hahaha

Matthews is an insane talent but I never got the feeling he makes players around him better. Even Knies looks better with Domi then he does Matthews.

The most delicious part of this walloping, Treliving's adds all played a role. Domi amazing, Bertuzzi 3 point night, the goalie, the walk on Gregor, Benoit clearing the crease, Lagesson. I'm sure the Dube noticed.

590 after game You Tube pointed out that Treliving's best move might have been strong arming Samsonov, no term, minimal dollar. Dubas never does that imo and we'd be in a pickle, a good point.

Also, can't believe the crowd was chanting Dubas. You blew it dude, best gig in the game, enjoy your aging core and shit prospect pool.

I was not a Dubas hater, in fact I liked him and most of his moves. I think he left us in good shape and it appears that Treliving has made some nice moves too and his bad ones are not hurting us. Having said this, I was not upset that we didn't bring Dubas back. We needed change and I think upgrading on Keefe was more difficult than moving Dubas out. Now that he is our former GM, coupled with how he left I am happy cheering against him and I think he made a terrible career move not only leaving TO but going to Pittsburgh. The only acceptable outcome there is a cup in the next year or two and he has to destroy the future only to not achieve it.

As for our Leafs...

Can we roll out four lines with:

Knies Matthews xxxx
xxxx Tavares Nylander
xxxx Domi Marner
Jarnkrok Kampf xxxx

As the pairs to work around? This gives us Bertuzzi, Gregor, Robertson, McMann and Holmberg to slot in. It also opens up the trade targets for us...we can add a fourth line winger or a third line centre (move Domi over) or a top line fit. Lots of options and no desperation.

Similarly, on D. Our bottom end depth and Lily back also seems to give us some breathing room. I still like Tanev to slot everyone down a pair and give us some depth to load manage Gio and Brodie...but I also like that we are not desperate to make that move either.

Our Goalie depth is pretty nice too. We haven't even had to see how ready Hiddleby is.

Back to the first point. Dubas left us in pretty good shape. Tre seems to have put his fingerprints on it too. Feels good to be a Leaf fan after losing once in regulation in our last 14 and beating Dubas by a touchdown.

I would love to see Knies-Domi-Marner get an extended run. If the Leafs could run Marner/Matthews/Nylander on 3 separate lines that would very balanced. Bertuzzi-Tavares-Nylander should be left together.

Think when Gio comes back, Timmins goes to PBox. Benoit & Largeson proving too valuable now as big body assets that can hit, block shots and not fumble the puck away. They keep it simple.
