Watching the highlights this morning, how filthy was Marner last night? His pass on Domi's goal and his own goal in tight were just special.

This is after his between the legs goal against Columbus. I like that it's expected from Mitch no one's even talking about it lol.
Just needed to punch out Sid for the Gordie Howe hat trick.

I agree. Ideally you have Matthews, Marner, Nylander on 3 separate lines, but otherwise this is as close as to what I would want to see.. Only real question mark there is Robertson. Sink or swim.

I don't trust Keefe though, I think Matthews and Marner will be reunited before we know it.
I like the idea of JT being on the third line with Bert, I hope he wouldn’t think the idea would be beneath him, I think that’s 2/3rds of a super impactful line………

This is a hard team not to like right now, and I just don’t like Marner, seems like someone you want to punch, but I’m willing to look the other way.
It's not just you, but the ridicule this player takes here is insane. He's a 90+ point winger conservatively who plays Selke calibre defence and plays in all situations, PP and PK. Having so many talented players right now makes him seem a little less special, but from a fanbase who would have been frothing at the mouth for a player of this calibre for 10 years after Sundin when our stars consisted of Kessel, Phaneuf, and Lupul we've got to be better.

I'm not saying he has to be everyone's favorite player, he has faults, but god realize how good he is as well.

I am not denying his talent, but I do question whether he has the will and strength to fight through when the game tightens up. So far, he hasn’t shown he has

Been yelling from rooftops for years now. You don't put your two best eggs in one basket and make it easier for opposition to defend you.

Marner MUST play away from Matthews and both of them will create a pain in the ass for opposition.

Bertuzzi-Matthews-Nylander
Knies-Domi-Marner
Robertson/XXX-Tavares-Jarnkrok (speed on wings)

we have enough depth IMO our coaching staff needs to use it correctly

All 3 lines get about the same ice time on average in the long run. Whichever line is going on a given night gets most minutes that night. Bring in accountability and reward lines that put on a better show on a given night
It is so simple

I think it's semantics at that point defining the lines. All 3 would play similar minutes give or take having Matthews, Marner, Nylander spread out.

All the talk was wait until November when he starts his season.

Guess it was delayed this year due to matrimonial duties.

Just watched the entire game. Only watched bits and pieces last night.

Okay, so without a couple "regular" defenders they seems to have more bite. Guess when you aren't guaranteed starts you put a bit more into your opportunities.

Jones earned it. The late crossbar maybe was just what was left to shoot at?

Leafs could have scored another 3-4 goals but maybe all they had left to shoot at were posts and crossbars? :sarcasm: Knies did miss an easy tap-in.

Penguins had what 39 shots, so good on Jones, but that's what you want from your goaltender, stops. Don't sit on the goal line giving up 1/4 of the net to shoot at.

For some their knowledge is limited so they judge the player by who their father is or how many over the glass penalties they took 5 years ago. No one takes them serious.

On purpose. I don't see him in a playoff lineup.
I agree with this.

Robertson has been playing pretty well of late. Might be time to move him while he's rebuilt some of his value. I like what he can bring but I just don't see him being effective in the playoffs.

His bread and butter is his shot and so far he's shown that he's not able to get the time and space to get it off at the NHL level.
