They showed yet again what they are made of. Not very much. And that’s being kind.

Incase you thought oh, maybe Gudas’ stick grabbing was discrete and could have been missed.

Here’s the behind the net view:

Posting as a Flames fan, I know people are angry right now and rightfully so. But look at how we blew up our team and realize it can be much worse.

Matthew's and Marner games struggle to translate in playoffs but I don't think it's a lack of effort. Saw them trying pretty hard tonight. I also don't think the Leafs got badly outplayed, with some bounces the series could have gone either way.

I also think Florida is a much better team than people are giving them credit for. They won the Presidents trophy a year ago and added a playoff type elite winger to replace a non playoff type 1st line winger. With goaltending they are a cup contender.

I also believe playing in a Canadian market is much tougher given the pressure on the players. Tkachuk went from playoff ghost to playoff MVP when he went to a non Canadian market.

I just think it's important to keep some of those things in mind. It's tough to just trade elite talent that isn't performing because you rarely ever win that trade.

Marner, is the worst playoff performer I have ever seen.

Game 3, Marner had 9 giveaways. That's a Selke candidate?????????????????????????????????

Wow, he scored a game winning goal in game 4, that was a literal hail mary. Then he almost tied up the game with a turnover. Wow he had 6 points in two blowout games.

Please please please please please. Matthews is maybe fixable in Toronto, Marner is not.

This series ended up being one of the least penalized series in the last 20 years. Despite Florida leaning the NHL in penalty minutes in both the regular season and the playoffs up to that point. But I'm sure that had no bearing on this series, right?
Almost Florida hit aims at the heads with elbows up. The refs couldn't call everything in the first two games, then they just decided not to call any borderline hits that are headshots. If the league is so intended to protect players' heads, this is the kind of calls that need to be consistent between regular season and playoffs.

We lost the series in the beginning of the 2nd period of Game 2. But recall that Knies was taken out of the game with a number of head shots. The line shuffling indirectly led to Barkov's tying goal.

Just imagined if we had traded say Marner for Tkachuk last year. That would have seemed like a great trade at this moment, as it gives the balance that our "core" needs (in fact that's exactly what Florida did by trading away huberdeau after getting swept in the 2nd round). But if he targets opponents' heads as a leaf like he and bennett did throughout this series, he'd probably get suspended for a few games.

Dubas and Keefe need to go. Other teams with accountability make these changes, however we will see if upper management can actually make a tough decision.

They're losers.

I think at this point everyone involved in MLSE has targets that failed to hit for their respective subordinate.

I expect big time changes.

Shanahan should stick around for a Matthews trade though, he's priority one right now for the franchsie.

When you only score 2 goals per game, you can't win. The 3 11 million "players" were pathetic. Unfortunately Tavares can't be shipped out, but they need to give Mo the C (Captain Morgan!). Matthews was just pathetic. 0 goals in 5 ganes, wow. Marner is a little, arrogant pu$$y.
Marner is arrogant pu$$y? Please don't insult arrogant, he is pu$$y only, not even close arrogant.

Please don’t run it back.
Woll made it more of a series than it was.
I knew Morgan Rielly would never quit and my heart hurts for him.
Rielly, Woll, Samsonov, build from the net out.
Keep Nylander and retool. Enough of the core 4 forwards.
Start with the front office, therein lies the real pro……..

Thank God the Shanahan era is over. Clean house MLSE. He was a moronic sham all along.
Not certain mgmt’s teflon coating is completely gone, but it’s a nice thought……..

Shanahan needs to go as much or more than Dubas, they took the best chance the Leafs have ever had at building a perennial winner and flushed it down the toilet thinking you could win giving half your cap to four players, ever mistake after that was just icing on the stupidity cake in my opinion……….

Er.. games 1 and 2 the Leafs dominated the third for a goal and still couldn't pull through.

They just don't have it.

The key is hating to lose more than liking winning.. and the Leafs don't have it.
The 1st three games the Leafs did not show up, they didn't play well in the 3rd period Florida just let up because of their lead in the game. The last two games the Leafs were the better team, but couldn't finish it in overtime.

For someone always right, you went absolutely no where in the hockey world .. Dubas probably made more this year than you'll ever make which is crazy cause you're always right.

Now I'll probably get tagged for this comment for some reason while you just bitch and complain in the leafs forum when you're clearly not a fan. But get a life, dweeb,
The argument isn't who makes more... It's so can asses the leafs better.

Eat your crow Dubas homer.

Y'all are a special bunch 🤣 thanks for cheering on wasting our AM years though. We tried to tell you.

What are the chances you talk about how the Leafs couldn't score more than 2 goals in each of the 5 games they played before they were eliminated?

It's doubtful for sure, but I'm sure you'll try every conceivable attempt to re-direct attention from the failures of the team towards the zero calls that were made for both teams.
The lack of penalties called against Fla was at least a contributing factor to the Leafs limited scoring, although obviously not the whole story. And the non call on Gudas on the OT winner is infuriating. Apparently having cahones is not a prerequisite to being an NHL ref.

I know +/- doesn't really mean much, but it's crazy that Rielly leads everyone in the playoffs on a team that went 5-7 and couldn't score.

Boo-f***ing-hoo

We saw what this team does with more pps in game 1. Squanders them

Matthews can’t score, nah that’s the refs fault
Tavares is useless on the ice, nah that’s the refs fault
Nylander and Marner do their typical not enough, nah that’s the refs fault
Nylander wasn't on PP1. Maybe you didn't actually watch the series...

I know +/- doesn't really mean much, but it's crazy that Rielly leads everyone in the playoffs on a team that went 5-7 and couldn't score.
The guy was a warrior in the playoffs, and his pairing with Schenn seemed the ideal combination.

I thought Tkachuk bitch slapping Marner around at end of game 4 would piss him off and wake him up to dominate the league, but it seems Marner actually is just a little boy in the playoffs.

Marner is great for pk1 and point producer but not at a superstar salary. Marner and JTs contracts would be better served to re tool around Matthews and Nylander. Just theory wise I'd like to split Marner into another Nylander + fan favorite level 4 mil guy

Wow. It's over.

Now that it's over:

The Leafs were not very good, and every single thing is up in the air.

Rip this team to the freaking studs and find a coach who isn't afraid to healthy scratch JT til the expiration of his contract. You cannot win a Cup with that man on your roster and as your captain at this point in his career. I feel guilty typing this out since he's just a man, but he cannot play 5v5 playoff hockey anymore. Since we can't compete while he's still on the team might as well rebuild as much as possible
