If Keefe gets another job interview he can cite the respect in the handshake line and that he prediction Kerfoot would score an important goal while being useless in nearly every other game.

Lilly chose the wrong situation to take a risk. I have serious doubts about his ability to be a regular NHL dman. Regularly gets knocked off the puck by forecheckers.

You could say that they deserved better, you can say that Florida got the bounces and calls, you can say that Bobrovsky stole the series, all of that is true. Just like it was true against Montréal, Columbus, and Tampa last year.

At some point, you just have to get the job done and they didn't. Offence went dry when it mattered, just like in those past series (2G or less in 7 straight games). Defence coughed up the puck at bad times, just like those past series. Special teams stopped working, just like in those past series (remember the 2PPs in the 1st tonight?). Effort was lacking at key points, just like in those past series.

Nothing has changed with this core, with this team. One can only hope that the illusion of getting beat down by the Lightning and fluking out a series win does not serve use an excuse for the drastic changes needed this off-season.

In the Playoffs the dump ins increase, the puck battles increase and the scoring chances from rush plays go down.

Matthews and Marner haven't shown to be able to consistently produce offensively in the big games or big moments.

We battled hard these playoffs and for stretchs it didn't look pretty but at the end of the day your main difference makers need to come through if you want to win 4 hard playoff series and ours didn't.

Feels crazy to say it but I think a Matthews trade should certainly be a topic that is discussed when you factor in his soon to be UFA status.

Matthews’ playoff performances and his injury history make it pretty easy for me to want to move on.

He could be a winner but he needs a lot more support around him to thrive. And how can you do that at the salary he’ll command plus the injury history he’s had.

Size never lets elite players get in their way … well marner has proved the opposite.

Broke the first round curse, played well in an attemped comeback but in the end their 2 top 10m+ players underperformed in the most crucial moments... I'm not including Tavares here, he is what he is (faded & overpaid).

Changes need to be looked at between Keefe, Marner & especially Matthews.

Keefe didn't have this team ready to go in game one and they weren't ready to win game 2 as well.

Game 3 and 5 were not where it should have been effort wise.

Keefe is gone.

I didn't think tonight was a lack of effort. The first 3 games they weren't prepared for what Florida was bringing and that definitely is on the coaches.

I hate seeing my team go down, but I just never cared for this version of the leafs. The Gilmour Leafs and the Sundin Leafs were something special. You really wanted them to achieve big things.
This "Big 4" group are not so likeable.

A re-tool and we'll see how things go.

There are already some good future pieces to be excited about.

Dubas and Keefe will be gone. If there is a way to trade Tavares I would, even if we have to retain salary for 2 seasons. Make Morgan Rielly the captain. Realistically this team on paper was good enough to win the cup, but when your top players get no goals, you won't win. Matthews at least had some chances. Tavares was pretty bad.

Trade Matthews if he won't resign at a reasonable price. He's not worth 14-15 million. Not for what we saw tonight. Need to get back a high potential defenseman. Woll looked really solid tonight. Build around that.

I thought Reilly sucked this year but when the playoffs hit he suddenly became the f***ing true leader of this team. What a beast. That’s a bright spot at least. Plus Knies and Woll will be really good before too long.

Rielly is the lone member of the core who truly wants to win. He's actually willing take and hand out punishment to win.

Refs and the league suck but at the end of the day I think it's clear this group doesn't have enough in the tank to push through in the playoffs. I didn't think the Panthers played much better than your average second round team and the Leafs weren't able to push through. Offence can't create, defence loses battles up and down the ice, and all they had was their rookie goaltender to bail them out.

Need to see a vastly different look next season.
