Post-Game Talk: Skinner Does Dallas

I wonder if the refs begin to respect a coach like Knoblauch a bit more when guys like Deboer and Maurice call them out and cry to the media so often. Knoblauch doesn’t freak out during games or call refs out, he’ll gently comment on it from time to time but that’s it.

Maybe it’s already happening because I didn’t feel there were outrageous calls this game

I could see it with some coaches but not Maurice imo. Hate Florida but he’s really charismatic and can get away with it.

I think our team is tougher than given credit for, with the add of Kane, Walman, and Frederic.

It's also pretty clear to me that we were kind of avoiding contact and playing possum much of the year.

I could see Knoblauch telling the team to not be overly physical in the regular season and avoid contact to prevent injuries. Its pretty smart.

I think they will slow play Ekholm until we are in trouble or until the final.

I assume Stetcher will come out when that happens. But we’re probably going to need him back at some point. Guys a gamer. Which is why the Emberson re-signing kind of surprised me. I mean its fine but he makes like twice of what Stetcher makes. I don’t think they expected Klingbergs play in the playoffs.

I wonder if Perry needs to come out for a game. He can get away with playing with McDavid and Draisaitl because they can do most of the work. When they are separated and Perry has to play with bottom 6ers, he seems a step behind.

Just play him against Benn. That guy might be the slowest player in the league. Perry looks like Bure next to him.

Skinner is the strangest goalie I've ever seen. He now has 3 shutouts in his last 4 games and gave up 5 last game.

Huge response after the game 1 catastrophe. Dallas has played only 1 good period in this series. Hopefully we get the 2 wins at home.
If you told me a guy with three shutouts in 7 playoff games including an OT game could be sporting a .890 sv% I would have thought that almost impossible. This really has been the freakiest stretch of goaltending I can ever remember.

That Nurse slash is so strange. It really looked like nothing or, at worse, that it caught Hintz right on the skate laces and made his foot go dead.

I actually thought it was major embellishment at first but he didn't come back and was apparently in a boot so I guess not. But I don't know what he could've injured as it was a pretty routine slash and not to a particularly vulnerable area. Just strange.

Having said that... I am kind of expecting Nurse to get suspended. I don't think it would be warranted or justified but I do see the league putting its thumb on the scale in favour of Dallas.

If a cross check to the face of a player doesn't garner a suspension, how could the league possibly justify a suspension for a slash to the top of someones foot? Especially after it was reviewed by refs and determined it wasn't worthy of a 5 minute major.

Oh, I agree with you. But you're applying logic and common sense to the situation. My issue is I don't trust the league to do that.

Just remember....Skinner has no fight- HfOil

Post game 1 many an analyst said the same thing and Skinner admitted he needs to up his competitiveness so it’s not just a quote you can credit to HFOil.

Honestly his game is unexplainable. Either a 1.000 Sv % or .835 Sv %.

Justin Bourne post game said he looks like a polar bear on roller skates and that his team mates don’t trust him. So is it luck and some games pucks just stay out and other games he’s on the other side of the luck and is crapping out?

I’m beginning to think so. I mean how else does one rationally explain the wild swings in his results and stats? Crazy.

He has zero games with a SV% between .834 and .999 so far.

That's a pretty crazy stat haha.

This these comments are dumb. Ek is better then stretcher and nearly everyone we have. He’s in full stop
I mean I can understand because the entire blueline is playing incredible hockey, but it can make people forget how good Ekholm is, especially when normally paired with Bouchard who's playing like a true #1D these playoffs.
