It was embarrassing, just what you'd expect. I lost some brain cells and it was a good reminder of why I almost never look at this place during games. I swear every time we get scored on there's a bunch of people who freak out and insist that it should have been saved even if Andersen had no chance whatsoever of reacting in time.

Now last nights goal of course he could have stopped but it's not like it's the kind of shot that you can expect to be saved every time either. Sometimes goals go in that should be stopped most of the time and sometimes it's the other way around, I guess life's just too hard for some people to handle sometimes.

Andersen looked terrible all game yesterday, he was sliding around all over the place regularly losing his net. The team defence bailed him out, which is fine, it's a team game but as Leaf fans we are not used to defence bailing out a goalie so I think the early concern was expected.

I'm too lazy to check the GDT and I'm mostly saying this tongue in cheek but.... how dramatic was this place when Anderson of all players scored that goal. I can imagine some folding the tent on the season... not actually but..... kind of actually.

I agree there are some who overreact here on every little thing, that said it’s also easy to understand why folks were frustrated with that first goal going in on the first shot from a bad angle and in a big game like yesterday (the 2 top teams to this point in the division). However, I do think most folks recognized it was less then 5 mins into the game and the game was far from over. Andersen settled down after that and played a solid game - I did see folks acknowledge that as well. But yeah some crazies will always exist

It surprises me that anyone could think that, I thought he looked just fine for the most part.

Yeah bad angle, big game, I get it. And I guess you're probably right (at least I hope you are) about most folks not rushing to judge. I think every player has good and bad moments in every game so rushing to make judgements after a few minutes of play is just so dumb. I guess it's understandable that goalies mistakes are always the ones that stand out etc. so people overreact, I guess I should just stay away from game threads 100% of the time instead of 97% of the time and everything will be just fine.

Freddie's not Belfour, not even close but he is the best goalie we've had since Belfour, that's about two decades now which is a long time and he's better than what most teams have. I can't even think of who the last player was on our team that was as under-appreciated as Freddie. It just annoys me a bit as I'm the kind of fan who goes out of his way to find a reason to appreciate and support every guy on our team - you won't catch me dumping on any of our players unless there is zero question that they more than deserve it.

Last season series against the Habs was due to scheduling luck and bad player management by the head coach. Two wins against a fresh and ready team, whereas the Leafs have some injuries (last night's roster) and were not at the top of there game. I just wonder how this roster would of done against the rest of the league.

I will see if i can find it, but you can see Bogo say something at the next faceoff in the Habs zone and Perry shakes his head and say no.

Just saw it on the replay. Didn’t see Bogo as they were showing a replay, but they come back with a close up on Perry and he emphatically shook his head and said no in the direction Bogo would be. Coward, but he ate shit on the boards shortly after so there.

Sid and Ted or whoever those guys are ... from what I remember their opinions carry zero weight with me and overall, they're basically unwatchable.
Tbh I never had an issue with Tim. He's a good guy who speaks at reasonable volume and spits good info and decent takes.

It's the other loser loudmouth who just likes to hear his own voice. Him I can't stand.

Fair enough. TBH I couldn't even tell you who's who there, I just found the show overall childish and haven't watched in a very long time. I hoestly couldn't even remember the names, just that they blew some horn from time to time, gimme a break. And I remember getting the loudmouth impression, if you say it was just one of them I'll take your word for it. Lord knows that the loudest people always sound like more then they really are (in more ways than one).

Really, really hope Boyd stays in the line-up when Robertson and Thornton come back...

This would be my lines(with Simmonds being injured)

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Nylander-Tavares-Mikheyev
Robertson-Kerfoot-Thornton
Engvall-Boyd-Spezza
Petan/Vesey

BUT I wouldn't mind Thornton on the Tavares line, JUST to see how Robertson-Kerfoot-Mikheyev will look...

I mean to their credit they started it all on their own when younger so great for them. But they came at a time where sports journalism and sports takes were delivered differently and analysis diff too.

It's great to see how much its changed. People are forced to use analytics and numbers to backup their claims and not just being a stupid loudmouth who says hurrr durr Leafs never get out of first. Plan the parade.

Sid is a soccer fan who pretends to know other sports, and has the worst takes in the business and it's not close.

His popularity to Tim & Sid has purely been his outlandish personality, not his sports opinions.
I know.

When he announced he's leaving I msg saying your takes on all things Leafs won't be missed. But best of luck.

It got a lot of likes but also some ppl commented saying Sid was always right on his takes on all things Leafs.:laugh:

So I mean some ppl will believe anything.

was just reading the montreal post game. It gives me so much happiness :)

You definitely don't like seeing that first shot go in, very routine save most of the time. Just found a hole. Also started to get really worried when Freddy misplayed the puck behind the net shortly after and MTL failed to take advantage on what should have been a goal. Thought we were going to see an awful showing from him. But credit to him, he settled in thereafter. I am proud that the boys didn't bury their heads after the early goal like years past. This group is playing so confident, which is so refreshing. You can tell they aren't even phased when they go down anymore, or when something bad happens. They stayed patient last night and took over when it counted the most. Huge to get the 2 points, and huge to get the in regulation as well. I just didn't think MTL is as impressive as their record indicates. They have played 9 of their 13 games against horrible defenses (OTT, EDM, VAN) accumulating 42 goals in those 9 games (4.67G/game). Yet in the remaining 4 games they have only been able to score 8 goals (2G/game).They have gotten substantially better from last year, but they still lack offensively against teams with average to good defense. And for the first time in over a decade we actually aren't bad defensively....I can't believe I just typed that... MTL has the ability to beat any team on any night, but they are clearly not as dangerous as their record indicates. It is becoming increasingly more apparent that this is our division to lose

Why can't they just protect him?
they could
Matthews
Tavares
Marner
Nylander
Rielly
Muzzin
Brodie
Holl
Campbell (unless we resign Andersen)
Hyman, Mikheyev, Kerfoot, Dermott available rest are UFA of roster players right?
we also have prospects available for them to pick between.

Any idea if Liljegren is exempt still?
