Toronto to me wins this deal hands down.

The only risk for them IMO is the possibility of Nylander becoming a superstar, whereas Virtanen doesn't have quite the same upside.

But worst case you add two very good pieces to the D and take a bit of a hit up front in scoring potential.

Nylander is a stud, he will be the best player out of that group.

Someone needs to post the latest version of him. Think it's on his Twitter. Him on the beach kicking a ball around. His thighs, oh my.

He may be a pretty boy, but the kid is a beast

You weren't kidding. What the hell kind of training program is that kid on? He's got Marty St Louis tree trunks for legs. :amazed:

Soshnikov/Brown>>>Hutton (Brown and Sosh are UNDERRATED)

Ben Hutton

Chris Tanev

Jake Virtanen

:nucks

Jake Gardiner

William Nylander

Nikita Soshnikov or Connor Brown or Leafs 2017 2nd

Thoughts? Too big of a swap? If so how could it be simplified?

Easy pass for the Leafs.

Whatever perceived drop off there is between Gardiner and Tanev isn't as big as a piece like Nylander filling the gap.

We value Brown quite highly too.

Look at all the stats...
Jake Gardiner is = to or even better than Tanev - Even the advance stats you guys always try to use support gardinar as a TOP 2

since when is Ben Hutton a TOP 4D??

Gardiner = Tanev
Nylander > Virtanen
Ben Hutton = Connor Brown (LOOK AT Brown's AHL stats... I would say he is better than Hutton (Hutton is a 5/6D)

If were giving up Nylander and Gardiner I want a bigger piece then Tanev. Maybe im underselling Hutton. I dont like Virtanen at all and dont see him being any better then Soshnikov or Brown.

I'm not saying Brown or Hutton is better than one another

BUT Since when do AHL stats trump NHL stats

I think both teams pass on this one. I'd rather keep my guys and I'm sure Toronto would rather keep theirs. Good proposal though.

*looks at the OP, doesn't see Matthews, Juolevi, etc.*
*looks at the title, sees the word 'blockbuster' *
*looks 'blockbuster' up in the dictionary, just in case I've fallen into an alternate universe with different meanings of words. Yup I was wrong*
*sees that it doesn't means what I thought it meant*
*Thinks to himself*

Leafs hard pass.

Nylander will be the best asset moved within a few years. No interest in moving the bluechip centre prospect AND a top 4 dman in Gardiner

Two forward prospects and the perennial Leafs whipping boy for two of our top three defenders and our top forward prospect?

I'm not going to get into value, what ever I say will be negated in the eyes of Leafs posters with the infallible logic of </>, but based on positional needs alone, Vancouver can't do this (Edler and Gardiner are both LHD, leaving Gudbranson as our only proven righty) and ownership won't let Benning do anything that would lower the odds of making the playoffs.

I don't care if it's common knowledge around the Leafs board that Nylander is the next Gretzky, guaranteed, or that Gardiner is worth two full teams for his return (despite what will be said after his first giveaway this year), the Canucks can't and won't make this trade.

What has Hutton done to prove he has a higher stock than Connor Brown? He is a 5/6 D. Just because you are a 5/6D in the NHL doesn't mean you are better than someone in the AHL.

According to all stats and even advanced stats + the eye test... Gardiner is better than Tanev.

Nucks fans are just salty they didn't get Nylander instead Virtanen.
They even think that Tanev> Morgan Reilly which tells you how biased they are.

Lol jut because Hutton is in YOUR top 4 and Virtanen is YOUR top prospect doesn't suddenly give then the value of a top 4 dman and a blue chip forward prospect.

Tanev is for sure an attractive piece from Vancouver. I doubt I'd be willing to trade away the big 4 from TO, but if Benning is a gambling man, I might be open to trading away next years first for the Leafs unprotected + another piece (not Matthews, Rielly, Nylander or Marner) for Tanev.

Leafs pass. As nice as it would be to have Tanev, it's not worth Gardiner and Nylander at this point. Virtanen is vastly over rated. Do not want the guy. The 2014 draft is one we will look back in 5 years and say what were the Canucks doing? And Ben Hutton is meh. Projects to be an average D man.

It's a good proposal, but as a Canucks fan, i don't think we can be bleeding quality d-men like that.

Besides, I feel that Virtanen will be a serious force in a couple of years and really want to hang onto him.

How the **** is Virtanen overrated? Everyone on here does nothing but hate on the guy. Leafs fans especially feel the constant need to point out how were supposedly jealous all of the time that we didn't pick Nylander. Sounds like your just another homer doing the sammmeee thing. I'll gladly keep Virt and watch him turn into a 60 point PWF and you can keep Nylander, I just hope there isn't a lot of disappointment in leaf land when he doesn't put up 120 points next year.

Hutton is already a top 4 Dman, maybe watch the canucks play a game, and you'll understand how good this kid looks and if you did some research you would see how good he looked in college too.

By the way there is not a player on this board that is more overrated than Nylander, and its not even close.
