I mean it's going to sound rough, but when you compare the 5 on 5 impact of an Alex Kerfoot, like just the mechanical basics like skating, puck transporting, clean crisp passes, defensive awareness, just making plays in open ice and penalty killing, I'd say Kerfoot is actually a more responsible, involved and better shift to shift player than Tavares.
When it comes to offensive production (stats), powerplay, net front and below the hash marks grinding and cycling and small area plays, faceoffs, shooting and offensive touch, Tavares comes out way ahead.
But like I say, the flaws in JT's game are masked by the production. But shift to shift, it's often not that pretty with him out there.
