Wow I can’t believe Samsonov stopped all 3 shootout attempts after the night he had!

Kudos to the buds not quitting despite being down 2 goals twice. Lots to cleanup but suck it MTL!

That first one was a pretty great eye save.

I’m going to have to take credit for this win.

Habs scored to make it 3-0. I changed the channel, and immediately the goal was waived off and then we scored to make it 2-1.

I then changed the channel again when the Habs made it 5-3.

Leafs, I have your backs.

Your welcome Leaf Nation. Party on.

The core showed tf up
Klingberg can be dangerous here, I’m looking forward to his play
Samsonov was ass, but at least he got the win and ended it off on a high with a few saves
3rd line was a bit meh, but I’m more than willing to wait a few games for them
Yeah Klingberg will do well here. As will Reeves to a certain degree.

There are fans who have already made their mind up and will never give credit to those signings, but I think they'll be good in their roles.

Still a long way to go with this team to go deep, but it'll take some years to clean up the previous mess.

Wild game, loose as expected. We deserved the win.

Klingberg is a passing machine, he is adding a great dimension, as long as he can play some D, will be a nice add.

Bertuzzi feisty on that line, looks a perfect compliment.

Reaves quite good, easily a 4th liner if he plays like that, line was good.

Domi had some good and bad.

Gregor was effective.

Our adds were noticeable for sure.

Next.

Hoping the defensive and goaltending sloppiness is just part of the early season loose play.

Willy was fantastic, Gregor looked good and aside from a few whiffs on the puck, reaves seems to put some fear in opponents when they go back for the puck.

IMO third line will need to be rejigged. Don't think Minten is ready

Pretty ugly win.

Samsonov was awful. #1 goaltenders need to make tough saves through traffic and he couldn't do anything tonight. Leafs didn't give him a lot of shots and a lot of them went in. Leafs gave the Habs 2 breakway goals due to Brodie blowing a tire and Liljegren whiffing on a pass as well, Samsonov needed to bail out his team on at least one of these.

Klingberg was pretty good and exactly what the Leafs needed. McCabe was pretty good too.

AM, MM and Bert started the game pretty badly but turned it up in the 2nd and 3rd. They were great. Bertuzzi could have scored 2-3 goals himself.

Nylander was fantastic. Domi was a ghost... barely involved.

I thought the fourth line played with purpose and the 3rd line of Minten, Knies and Jarnkrok was ok but definitely not as good as they were in pre-season.
Montreal fans complaining about Allen, acting like it would have been a contest if not for Samsonov.

In terms of the new additions:

- Klingberg is as advertised ... nice to not have just Rielly as a quality offensive guy on the back end
- Bertuzzi will be a great addition, lots of good looks and he should be a nice gritty piece as he settles in and gets his offense going
- I didn't mind Domi until that giveaway in the third .. but I still am encouraged as him in a secondary scoring role which was solely needed last year. His puck movement will work well with JT and Nylander
- Knies almost had a beauty in OT .. otherwise there was some good effort out there. Wasn't really insulated being paired with Minten
- Minten was solid .. nothing particular good or bad.
- Reaves set the tone with some physicality and a fight. He'll have value if he's not overused.

Glad you mentioned Domi. He was brutal all night.

I disagree with you on Tavares, thought he was active all night and was making lots of good plays.

Willy and Auston really stood out as being waaaay better than anyone else on the ice.

Agree on the 3rd and 4th line assessment. 4th was very good, especially early in the game with the rest of our team was slowly waking up from what seemed to be a long nap.

3rd line was concerning. Got pinned in their zone more than any other if felt, and really didn't sustain much offensive presence other than maybe one shift. They will need some time, so if the 4th line is competent, we are good for a while.
