Funny sport at times.

Some nights we can see Marner not have his best game and put up 3 points. Last night in a laugher he may have been the best guy at either end in a blowout and he puts up a doughnut.

Blowout !!!!!

Prior to the game in 12 different occurrences Quick had never given up more than 3 goals to a Leafs team until now.

I expected a low scoring tight checking game.

Not going to be a popular sentiment but Nylander is either hurt or starting to mail it in again.
He was so good in the playoffs and the start of the season, I'm thinking he's hurt.

He looked real hurt chasing down Kempe on that back check on the power play in the 2nd period ;)

He’s fine IMO, points just aren’t rolling in like they were early in the season.

True enough, he did.
I'd prefer to hear he's hurt instead of the alternative.

It looks like since "the benching" he has been a little hesitent to jump too quickly into the offense and is always trying to be the first one back.

He has made some great defensive plays and had back cheked really well even though he is not putting up numbers

Fair enough, he could be playing a bit hesitant. I'm not bothered by numbers personally for any player. These guys will all get their points.

Ian gave Nylander 4 stars for his game. He was really good and his back checking is some of the best on the team.

4 Stars

William Nylander (RW, #88) — It was weird seeing that the Kerfoot-Tavares-Nylander line actually got outshot and out-chanced pretty badly at 5v5. Maybe because the pucks went in tonight we’re all much happier with this trio than we “should” be. It’s obviously not ideal to spend most of your time stuck in the defensive zone, but at some point, scoring is a repeatable skill and we need to acknowledge the players who can actually do it.
Nylander did it last night off of a set play on a right-side OZ faceoff. He backed up well above the top of the circle and let go of a pretty hard one-timer. The xG on that shot usually isn’t very high, but thanks to John Tavares’ deflection, it turned into a super high-percentage shot.
I’d also like to commend Nylander for his effort on the backcheck.

3 Stars

Mitch Marner (RW, #16) — I didn’t hate Marner’s game tonight as much as some people on the internet, but I also don’t think he took over offensively. He made a few great one-touch passes to get his linemates in open ice, which is always a dangerous proposition when you play alongside Matthews.
Then again, I wonder if we slapped a #88 on the back of his jersey, what would Sheldon Keefe, the Toronto media, and really everyone in the hockey world be saying about his play? My guess is we’d be a lot more critical.

The bolded is an interesting point that's been brought up before too.

It's nice to finally get some bounces to go our way or shots to go in. The Leafs didn't even play THAT well yesterday, shots just went in. They obviously earned that win though.

He says at 3:37 am on a work night.
Im in Sweden so its a tiny bit of time difference, in wich i have no insight in whatsoever. Still it is Leafs biggest fanbase, we won , it should be more comments. Even if i sleep when all other are awake...

Losses have more replies because people tend to argue in them. That plus theirs and a handful of posters who only post when we lose and they are good at getting replies.
This seems to be brought up after every win. I don't know why it seems so shocking that threads are quieter when they play well and win. There is way more to discuss when things aren't going well.

Not that it truly matters, but the Campbell trade was Campbell/Clifford for Trevor Moore and 2 picks.

Durzi and Grundstrom was for Muzzin.
Yess...I know. Keep the trades with LA coming baby. 2 for 2.

I'm happy for Mooresy, Durzi and Grundström but thrilled with Muzzin and Campbell. Muzzin overall since acquired has been excellent, obviously a bit of bad play recently but he'll figure it out. Not worried about Muzz.

There's a clear portion, and you can even say a big portion, of this fanbase that definitely doesn't show up when the team is winning, especially in recent years for whatever reason. They only show up when there's a loss to complain. And part of it is venting and being frustrated... everyone can use that outlet to complain and vent I suppose. Nothing wrong with that. The other part if being unable to admit being wrong because we all know many of those fans want to see them lose for their own ego and that can only happen with a loss.

I think there are many things to discuss as a fan when they are winning though. Heck you can even complain about how Marner and Ritchie were the only 2 players without a point yesterday.

Fandom is always so damn negative about everything, especially around here. It'd be nice to see those faces throw up a cheer comment with a big win like that.
