Nice win, but if we do not tidy up our defensive zone puck play we are going to be chasing a lot of games.

Soft plays, losing a lot of wall puck battles... need the team to firm up on those plays. The reason we were flying vs EDM was because we were almost perfectly clean in our own zone.

As if neither ref saw that hacksaw-jim-duggan slash in the corner? I mean the stick was obliterated ffs. Fckn losers.

No denying the Jets have some offensive skill, but they have a very weak defensive structure. I don't think they can lock anything down, at least haven't shown it in 3 games vs us. If not for Helly we rout them this week.

For perspective on Andersen, are Jets fans saying Helly should have saved that Nylander goal? Cause sure as shit people on this board would be claiming he should have. He does need to get better though, more timely saves so we are not chasing the game all the time. Sometimes the other teams do make good plays. Their 2nd and 3rd goals to me were skill goals like we normally score... first one I think he over played.

What pumps me up about this is that if leafs have their Mojo back here with this win, which I think they do, even Hella in God mode won’t be able to prevent an onslaught in the final game

I think that's a bad take. Ehlers, Schief, Wheeler, Connor, PLD, are all really good players. Way better than Kessel era Leafs.

Exactly. Their defense is a lot like ours used to be, but their top 6 is among the best in the league and their goaltender is top 2 in the NHL. They're incomplete, but they're nowhere near bad. Toronto worked like hell to beat them these past two games and lost one, while barely scraping by in the other.

Look at the high danger chances. I cannot fathom how the Jets are even in these games but thats what a huge difference goaltending makes.

Marner is great... but he needs to know when to resist trying to pass a puck through 2 players.... especially in OT. He had that puck and was telegraphing pass, and I was thinking don't you dare try it..and he did. it led to an easy odd man rush the other way. Possession in OT is so critical - for him to try that very low percentage play is plain dumb and selfish. It's low percentage plays like that add up and cost a team.

Marner has been living up to his contract this year, but he still needs to work these warts out of his game eventually.

That matthews goal was incredible. He makes it look like taking candy from a baby.

Hard to crack that goalie, Nylander had 3 sure fire goals stolen. Hopefully the goals will start flooding in if they keep playing like tonight. Lots of games left against him.
