Also shoutout to Captain JT for dangling the Jets team and setting up Nylander for that needed second goal.. what an effort from the captain

It's such a strange feeling that Marner was creating all night, Matthews scored a heroic goal, Nylander was piling it on and Tavares made that brilliant rush, Mikheyev scored a goal scorer's goal, Kerfoot was dancing all night, Leafs avoid disaster and something still seems off.

Forbort is so bad at hockey, I don't know why they dressed him. Surely they must have at least 1 more capable defender ?

Look at the high danger chances. I cannot fathom how the Jets are even in these games but thats what a huge difference goaltending makes.

Put down the noose and step away from the ceiling fan man.
The Leafs won and came back in the the 3rd to do it.

Marner is great... but he needs to know when to resist trying to pass a puck through 2 players.... especially in OT. He had that puck and was telegraphing pass, and I was thinking don't you dare try it..and he did. it led to an easy odd man rush the other way. Possession in OT is so critical - for him to try that very low percentage play is plain dumb and selfish. It's low percentage plays like that add up and cost a team.

Marner has been living up to his contract this year, but he still needs to work these warts out of his game eventually.

That matthews goal was incredible. He makes it look like taking candy from a baby.

We need the big 4 to show up and win hockey games and they certainly did tonight.

It matters when his save percentage on the season is around .900% and his save percentage in most games this season have been under .900%. Team has been lights out good this season offensively and defensively has been superb as well.

The finger SHOULD be pointed at the weakest link, Andersen is that and the sole reason we lost the game prior to this one.

The problem with looking at save percentage alone is that you're not judging the quality of goals he's giving up. He's never going to be Helle if that's what fans are expecting. The same way Scheifele is never going to be Matthews...

I'm very quick to call a bad goal, a bad goal, or a soft goal, a soft goal. I'm no Freddy defender by any stretch of the imagination... But I'm realistic with who he is. Of the 3 Jets goals tonight, I thought only the 1st one was soft and saveable. The 2nd and 3rd goal go in the vast majority of the time, against 90% of the goalies in the league. Anderson doesn't happen to be part of the exception. Obviously.

Since the benching Nylander leads the team in goals/ points and most impressively has only been on the ice for 1 goal against 5v5.

Matthews and Marner have actually been terrible over the same stretch but I don't believe there is any need to worry about those two.
