All we ask, apparently, is for him to win the goaltending battle. Tonight he did.

He's been shat on for 12 months now by the majority of the fan base. Not many take the time to give him his due tonight. It's disappointing to see.

I'm not going to let Freddy stop me from enjoying this incredible team in front of him even though it was far from his worst night (I've just lost patience with him). We fix the goaltending and this league is at our mercy.

That would be the positive but possibly heart attack inducing alternative, but history shows us if goaltending is a weakness it's pretty tough sledding.

Wouldn't go that far, their top 6 is impressive. Even with Freddie in net and their meh defense they're a playoff team.

Seriously if not for Hellebuyck the Jets would be on the outside looking in. Holy shit they really are terrible defensively. Chances galore and they only stay in games cause Helle performs miracles.

Their Backup is putting up excellent numbers as well. Losing Big Buff and Chiarot which has been one of the best 2nd pairing in the league in terms of goals allowed really hurt that team, was never really a big fan of Trouba but he did eat a lot of heavy minutes for them as well. What a big turn around for that teams' D, from being one of the hardest D to play against just 3 seasons ago to now being in the bottom 6 in terms of 5 vs 5, shots allowed.

Every goal that goes by him for the remainder of the year will be under a microscope. It doesn't matter how good the goal is in reality, or how many of the same quality goals the Leafs score against other goaltenders... Every non-shutout will be treated as if he's the worst ever.

Call him out when it's due. But why fabricate hate for player when it's undeserved? 2 of the 3 goals tonight were saves he had no business making. Surprise, the Jets have great forwards too. The first goal, he has to save. Toronto absolutely needs that save.

He needs to be better. A lot better. But the hatred is over the top. It's no longer rational.

Also... Your goalie is struggling a little bit right now. How about as a team you stop coughing up odd man rushes like they're candy caught in your throat? You know, team effort and all that...
