Actually, despite what I've said in earlier posts, I'm not sure they're allowed to send doiwn (or try to send down) any player who wasn't on the Marlies roster at the trade deadline. So, if that's true, the only way they could have had Woll up was to not sign Knies.

Players had to be on an AHL roster as of the 3 p.m. ET deadline on Friday to be eligible for NHL teams to send them back down at any point during the rest of the season and playoffs.

The quote is from this article.

The league's opinion is we created our own problem by signing Knies.
I get that for last game since we made a roster move inbetween, but wouldnt the game and roster changes "reset" between?

If not, demoting Knies seems like an easy option then maybe Tavares takes the kid watch shopping while they enjoy a day off in Sunny Florida.

Are they resorting to this because their cap wizard on vacation?
League doesn't like what happened obviously so the next 2 games we'll be using an ebug lol.

Seems so silly they can't just call up Woll. What a crazy rule. This could of had implications on other teams playoffs etc from last night. I know those teams put themselves in that spot but still doesn't mean they wouldn't of been pissed.

You'd think so.

My guess is they have it sorted out and we just won't know until the game. They aren't obligated to tell us. Maybe it's Woll. Is he with the team?

Just don’t get embarrassed anything else is whatever

If Marner gets 100, nice. If nylander gets 40, cool, but we need everyone healthy. I’d play David fricking Ayers before Samsonov tonight. Maybe get him in on the game against rangers for a period or two just to keep him in game form

If it’s one thing I trust it’s the Leafs ability to manoeuvre the cap. Seems like the league is cracking down on the Leafs to set an example again.

To me its a"results oriented business" ..

Last year Leafs finished with 115 points with Campbell, Mrazek and Woll and Kallgren and lost in round #1.

This year the Leafs have 107 points with 2 games to go with Samsonov, Murray, Woll and Kallgren and headed for the same opponent in round #1.

Clearly better?

For me the clearly better will be based on the outcome of the upcoming playoff series. If its another bitter disappointing outcome for Leaf Nation and early exit, there is no "Clearly Better" when the end results are the same. If the Leafs win a playoff round for the first time in 19 years then "clearly better" can be confirmed in a head to head comparison.
Clearly better...I sat through most of the 165 games to prove it.

I would, I'd tell them they should be sitting because the game is meaningless and we don't need to be risking the health of any player but especially the stars.
Glad you pay 300 bucks to watch the game.
What on earth does this have to do with anything?

Do you think Matthews doesn't block shots if its Murray or Samsonov in net?
Seriously. If the game is meaningless and your star gets hurt and misses the playoffs...then....
Dubas has the cap so messed up you may play with an amateur goalie and forced to play your stars...

Also, am I the only one who finds this amusing that the league doesn't give a figg about this until the Leafs do it. The league only ever seems to change rules, or interpretation of rules, when it hurts us.
I think they denied the Rangers an Emergency Recall Exception the week of the trade deadline because their "emergency conditions" were created the cap maneuvers tha tallowed them to deal for Patrick Kane.

Didn't the Rangers go through something similar last month with their forwards?
