Instead of actually playing Thursday, just give Samsonov a simulated game.

Rent a rink, get a bunch of college kids who'll glad play for free, have an assistant coach ref. Tell any player that if they come within 10 feet of Sammy they'll be hung, drawn and quartered. Same goes for slap shots. Easy.

Yes, I'm kidding, for the most part.

Unless Maroon or Perry wipes someone out or Hedman slew foots a guy and they are unable to play next week.
 
Can Leafs not just report that Samsonov is out of the next game for pre-cautionary reasons and make them eligible for an emergency goalie?

He certainly looked shock a few times. Take the fine if the NHL really wants to punish them.

The team that has rhe longer break almost always loses. No matter their respective records.

I am all for resting guys that have a legit injury and could use the time off but you also want to stay sharp heading in.

Everyone is off here though. We’re off for 5 irregardless, so the analogy doesn’t hold.

If we back up in time and Dubas had made a better choice for second goalie other than the train wreck that is Murray we would not be in this position. That’s why we have had to use an emergency back up

Out of all the options we had, he did really well with goalies.

Murray + the picks is above a lot of other goalies that were signed/traded for this summer

We didn't get the worst option, and we got what appears to be the best.

I like the Sammy deal but he should have never taken a chance spending that much money on Murray. The injury history and warning signs were everywhere.

Sammy absolutely. Murray a train wreck. As I said all the injury and fragile mental signs were there.

I like the Rangers to come out of the Metro and I think home ice against them would be the little edge they would need.

Aren't we counting our chickens before their hatched?

Would an early 1st round exit from the playoffs change your homerun to and pop fly out?

Heck Murray could return from the dead unexpectidly still; and win the Leafs a playoff game/series and his strikeout ruled a tip ball and then a success thereafter based on what is still ahead.

If the Leafs lose in round #1 again is the new goalie tandem this year really any better than the old goalie tandem from last year which they replaced?

I mean it was a gamble for sure...both of them were realistically. There were a ton of awful goalies out there last off season. I am just happy we got a good one. LTIR or buyout Murray for next season and we can move on lol

I mean no...seeing as Samsonov isn't a free agent. I see no scenario where we aren't bringing him back next season. Also this years tandem is like clearly better then last years. It isn't even remotely close. Samsonov is better then Campbell and Murray and Woll are both better then Mrazek so pick one.

I'm with this guy.

You must at all times have a WINNER attitude, and if you truly believe this team can finally get over the 1st rd hump, then you try to get
- potential home ice advantage over a couple of other teams for 2nd/3rd rounds
- another WIN in the regular season against your 1st round opponent (never a bad thing)
- and very importantly ;) keep the unbeaten streak alive when Knies plays

We almost wished we could have fast-forwarded through the last 20 games of the regular season once we knew the playoffs were locked in.

Leafs whole season really comes down to what happens in the round #1 this season. :)
 
How is it this hard to get Woll in for a game? Is there really no cap moves that can be made?

I'd rather start some try out nobody than Samsonov. But this is pretty embarrassing.

We could waive someone like Timmins who would absolutely get claimed. Or we could have not signed Knies. Or we put some guy off the beach in net tonight for a game that means nothing.

I dont know if i can watch this game. Its so pointless and im at the point where i cringe every time someone takes a shot from the point praying it doesnt hit someone in the hand, or anywhere that will cause damage.

Why can they not call up Woll on an emergency basis? What's the reasoning exactly?
