Why can they not call up Woll on an emergency basis? What's the reasoning exactly?

The NHL isn't letting us because they have decided that we created our own emergency by signing Knies rather then adding a 2nd goalie to the roster.

For the record I'm personally in favour of going for a win here. In the context of the discussion, are you dressing the full lineup for the last two games? There's a distinction between an uncontested loss with a full roster vs a roster while resting top players imo.

Yeah exactly, wouldn’t the recent Lafferty and Gustafsson injuries, which happened after the Knies signing, give us some leeway call up wise?

I mean no...seeing as Samsonov isn't a free agent. I see no scenario where we aren't bringing him back next season. Also this years tandem is like clearly better then last years. It isn't even remotely close. Samsonov is better then Campbell and Murray and Woll are both better then Mrazek so pick one.

Last year Leafs finished with 115 points with Campbell, Mrazek and Woll and Kallgren and lost in round #1.

This year the Leafs have 107 points with 2 games to go with Samsonov, Murray, Woll and Kallgren and headed for the same opponent in round #1.

Clearly better?

For me the clearly better will be based on the outcome of the upcoming playoff series. If its another bitter disappointing outcome for Leaf Nation and early exit, there is no "Clearly Better" when the end results are the same. If the Leafs win a playoff round for the first time in 19 years then "clearly better" can be confirmed in a head to head comparison.

If the Leafs are worried about Samsonov being overworked going back to back, just waive Timmins Or Gustsafsson, call up Woll, if they get picked up so be it. Or let Samsonov play the first period, hopefully Toronto has the lead, then let their back up play the second and third period. Or maybe throw Samsonov in for the third if nessary.

I would do none of those things. Don't waive either player and don't let Samsonov near the net.

Leafs vs NYR in game #82 could could even decide who has home ice if these 2 teams met in a playoff series this year.

However for the integrity of the league because NYR, Car and NJ are all still battling for position in the Metro, it would be reckless of Toronto to play an ATO goalie and that kind of bad Karma could come back and bite the Leafs some time in the future.

It's a waste of time because It's meaningless.

You can't move in the standings, and home ice is youwrapped up.

Truth be told we can totally move in the standings. 2nd overall is in the entire league is completely within reach. Only 2 points with 2 games left. 3rd overall even more obtainable. The current 2nd and 3rd place teams are are Eastern Conference teams. We could guarantee home ice against every team in the league except Boston.

And I still say avoiding injuries and resting tired players means more.
