Has Koskinen's recent hot run taken away doubt for Holland to try and get a goalie.

Toronto is confident that Campbell is just in a funk?

Goaltending can easily sink any team in the post-season, this is a gamble gamble for both teams imo

  1. I rarely trust media reports leading up to drafts and trade deadlines. Tons of posturing for example...
  2. ...How do we know execs for EDM/TOR just didn't leak this to Johnston to soften the goalie market/get another GM to come off their asking price?
  3. Because if the Oilers don't improve their goaltending they won't be around long in the playoffs...if they make it at all.
  4. And I don't know how Oilers management can look McDavid in the eye this offseason if they don't do anything before the deadline.

There is a chance we do nothing as it doesn't appear there are a lot of clear cut upgrades, but who knows what becomes available and how our current goalies play over the next couple weeks.

We get lit up by Chicago and Montreal the next two games and things could change

I don't think that will happen. Even so, Holland really SHOULD be in the market for a goaltender. Very disappointing he isn't... or is this some kind of ploy to get the asking price down on a guy he wants?

Well I give you Holland . Koskinen has 2 good games and no need for a goalie . The answer was in the room all along , who knew ?

1st to Detroit to take Holland old ass back .
Its more than 2 but I agree.

But who knows. Maybe Holland is putting out that vibe to protect his bargaining position

If Koskinen predictably slumps (hes had great stretches before) and it costs us in the playoffs, Holland has no defence. I can hear the excuses already. It wont swing this time

I never heard he made any offers . He inquired about a few cast offs like Jones in Philly but the price was too high for us to down grade .

Maybe Holland needs glass I can not see for the life of me inquiring about the Jones of the world . It would be like trying to plug the hole in the Titanic with a tire plug .

I thought he offered a 5th round pick for someones backup at some point this year? I can't back that up though.

Anyways, he's known to drop a trade with no warning so I'm not convinced he's not looking. It seems awfully convenient that the reporters says this about two of the clickiest fanbases, knowing full-well what the reaction will be.

A 5th for Martin Jones was the rumor

So I take it both GMs have conceded that their teams stand no chance in the playoffs, so why waste any assets on improving a squad that is likely to bow out early in the postseason. Makes sense.

Who's got a goalie that would improve their positions? Is that goalie available? Does that goalie want to leave his current situation? I think it's quite likely both clubs made calls around the league and found the market not to their liking.
good goalies just don't get traded in the middle of the season . when was the last time a good goalie was traded in the middle of the season cause I can't remember

Or, and I know this is just a crazy thought….there aren’t any starting goalies available? No….it’s gotta be that the GMs have thrown in the towel….you must be right…

Makes sense for Toronto. Need to add a defensemen as #1 priority.

Edmonton eh who knows. It's tough. I don't think they are wrong or right. It's kind of meh.

If Koskinen played like he has his last 9 games, don't need a goalie and get a dman, etc. Problem is, he cannot handle a #1 workload. His entire history he has a good streak and hen implodes b/c old fart Mike Smith gets injured. Koskinen is a good backup goalie.

Holland has already f**** up royally not getting a goalie for 2 years. I don't even see any target available this year. Not even looking to get one now. He would have to pony up and knock the socks off ANA or somebody else if he was actually serious about doing something in McDavid's prime. He seems to value all of our assets too much.

Rumor: Leafs and Oilers will not be looking for a goalie at this year's trade deadline.

Fact: Leafs and Oilers will not be advancing past the 1st round of this year's playoffs. Oilers might even not make the playoffs alltl togethet

Leafs and Oilers wasting generational offensive talents by not adding a better goalie, much like Montreal wasted a generational goalie by not adding better forwards

Where I kind of have the Meh. It's tough Koskinen bounce back and ghe price of goalies may be too high for the Oilers. Also the goaltenders available. I am unsure of Gibson is going anywhere. If he was available for fair value then I think Oilers should be over him.

If I am in charge of the Oilers I look for depth and roll the dice with the goalies.

Koskinen has been good recently. Not that I expect him to keep it up.

The big issue is that there is nobody available for goalies who is a significant upgrade on Koskinen. It's a long string of middling backups, especially with Fleury likely not moving now.

Roy immediately comes to mind, but that's the stuff of nightmares lol. Which is part of my point. It's such a fickle position. If you have a good one, you aren't trading them.

Not a lot of goalies played better then Campbell last playoffs. The leafs were just out played I’d go as far as saying he may have out played price.

That is what I think will end up happening. I am not expecting to do anything in the playoffs (if they make them lol). Grab solid depth defensive players. Under Jay Woodcroft, they are 7-3 and have played much better hockey and have been better defensively. If only we had a long break so we could have fired Dave Tippett and got a new coach in earlier.....Oh ya, we did have that chance and did nothing... lol
