You gotta love the heart to get into these fights but 3 fights by 3 defensemen was stupid. These fights were obvious provocations by Tampa Bay in an attempt to put a couple of the Leafs' defenders in the infirmary. Hopefully it didn't work.
Holl chose to get his face punched in.
Gio stood up for literally everyone else to send a message
Schenn is the only one that bit. And his face ended up breaking Jeannots hand.

I think Jeannot broke his hand on Schenn’s helmet so that didn’t work out for T bay.

Not sure if it's broken but it looked like a mess for sure. Wouldn't be surprised and I hope he did because he did it to himself anyways punching a helmet, big dummy.

Maybe 60-40 for Jeannot. Schenn didn't win the fight but Jeannot's hand looked ugly. Not sure how it came across on the radio but the fight was HEAVY. Each of their punches would have destroyed another fighter and they both landed several.
I watched it live and it was right in front of me looking down from row 1 .. it was BEST fight I have seen in years and worth da price of tickets from that fight alone .. started slow with positioning and jersey grab but Schenn got his left free and landed 2 shot square hooks to Jeannot's jaw da 2nd of which stood up Jeannot and I thought he was knocked out standing up but he regained consciousness after a moment and landed a right hook to Schenn's bucket which I think broke his knuckle and then landed a huge right uppercut which forced Schenn to grab .. and then thy both landed a few small shots which were bucket shots .. those are 2 heavy heavy weights that would both drop Maroon .. funny he is their fighter but in reputation only .. wow wow wow .. I did not realize Schenn had that kinda power in his left hook awesome .. wow

You can't buy heart, and Kadri, despite his checkered history and shitty decision making/luck with the Zebras, has more of it than most players ever will for their teams.
You should talk to some Avs and Calgary fans.

He does when he wants too but it comes and goes.

I will always love him because he was the first draft pick we had that felt like something was changing. The hype seemed to be real.

But he was a problem for every coach herre and he was a big problem for the Flames this year.
Avs fans were ready to run him out of town before they went on their Cup run.

That's great but it's not enough. He can't be counted on to control his temper and if he's not available to play, he can't help the team. And that contract is scary enough that I wouldn't take him on for free at this point in his career.

Flames fans might disagree with that
That's because his heart isn't in Calgary ;)

His salary per year is right (until '25), but it's too many years.

Once the unrealistic (Shea Weber) expectations are gone, you can really appreciate Luke Schenn for what he is:

-Leader
-Fearless
-Well-loved by teammates
-Effective at what he does

Now, no one expects him to be the saviour, and we can just appreciate him as a solid player.

He kind of settled into that Luke Richardson role which is so valuable but not exactly right for a 5th overall to start a rebuild. But we can love him now for what he is.

Jeannot is one of the top heavyweights in the whole league. Schenn was a bit out of his league but handled himself well and proved to Tbay that there is no "toughness" advantage for them.

I wouldn't mind seeing him pound Perry and Maroon next.
Jeannot has to earn that Cal foote, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th price that Tampa paid for him somehow!

Perry is much too savvy to drop them with Schenn, and I think Maroon learnt his lesson last week.

When Perry grabbed Holl I rolled my eyes...classic Perry. Didn't Holl lose to like...Kyle Connor or something this year?

Cmon Corey, you're a big boy, find a proper dance partner.

I’m just hoping to see McCabe absolutely lay out Perry at some point.

Last night I was watching the game with my wife (she only knows Leafs players and a few others like Crosby and Ovechkin obviously) but when Perry was making himself look like an idiot in the penalty box she goes “man I can’t stand this player, he just looks like a rat”.

First time her and I 110% agreed on something.

I don’t know if Maroon is actually that much of a fighting threat. He’s more of a bully-troll with what looks like high cholesterol.

I actually expect the series to settle down but wouldn’t mind Wayne Train in for a cameo if we can get a lead in the series. Dish out the revenge cold.

I think we might actually want to dial down the Perry engagement and focus more of the hitting and aggression on Kucherov and the Lightning D. Perry is going to run around but the guy you want to distract is Kucherov. And the hits you want to make are on Sergachev, so he’s beat up like a Game 7 Jake Gardiner, keep rattling Perbix and Fleury and make sure the mileage is up on Bogosian.
