Man I can’t wait to watch Schenn’s hits.

Test him out in the regular season, if he plays poorly then run him as the 7th D in the playoffs. I think he’s gonna surprise a lot of people. This guy adds an element we’re missing.

McCabe-Schenn can be a mean bottom pairing.

Luke Schenn turning into the #1 D we drafted him to be 15 years ago might still happen...

take good care of schenny. he was a fan favourite in vancouver.

try to forget what you remember from his toronto days. schenn has reinvented himself big time in the last few seasons and should be a regular in your lineup.

he did his best work paired with a quick skating partner, was regularly paired with hughes and was the team's only good defense pairing (hughes skating mitigated schenn's skating issues, so) if he's with Reilly instead of Holl I wouldn't be surprised.

Thanks for posting this. It will be interesting to see if they play him over Gus and Holl. No idea how that will shake out. But I’d like to see him start a few games over Holl to see if he has chemistry with Rielly.

McCabe-Liljegren - shutdown pair
Giordano-Brodie - shutdown pair
Rielly-Schenn/Holl

Why do I think Schenn will be in the top 6 especially during the playoffs?

Obviously what he said to Dubas on their phone call

This roster upheaval could blow up in Kyle's face but I'd extend him now. LOL
I could be wrong but I don't see MLSE giving a full on lame duck GM the authority to do all the transactions Kyle has made without the groundwork being laid for his extension.

In fact I wouldn't be shocked if Kyle hadn't already re-upped and not announced it.

As we've seen in the last 24 hours, anything is possible. After making it clear there would not be an extension without some playoff success, I cannot see them changing their position. It would not be a good look now if word got out that he has already extended.

IMO management was/is frustrated with the lack of playoff success (hence the reason for no extension) and as such has given Shanny and Kyle the mandate to win and failing to do so will cost Kyle his job. As such Kyle is leaving no stone unturned in order to give this team the best chance to knock off Tampa and a juggernaut Bruins team.

The Human Eraser is easily my least favorite hockey nickname of all time.

Calm down everyone, he's a 3rd pair D at best.

Might get some time with Mo, the Rob Hainsey experiment, that's they only way he gets into the Top 4.

I think the Leafs are planning on running 3 2nd pairs. Winning the depth battle, considering the lack of an elite #1, is the way to go.

The moves don’t seem like lame duck GM but we saw this with AA on the Jays too so you never know. But it would seem like they have full confidence and not letting a GM they don’t like to drive it off the cliff and enter an 8 year rebuild a la Jays.

Was that actually said? I think it may have been what some fans wanted to hear but I can't imagine it was declared.

Ive been busy for 2 weeks. It seems Dubas has been busy.

Is there a good list of what has happened ?

Do we still have Matthews ?

I don't think they have any intention of not re-signing him.

Traded for Laine, right the wrong.

You’re exagerrating on the 8 years. It was 5 tops. 2016 they made the ALCS. 2021 they were in contention for playoffs, 2022 they made the playoffs. Only 3 years where they were truly bad/rebuilding.

Ok so does it seem like the Leafs will nuke the franchise and enter into a 5 year rebuild with new management if they fail to advance? My feeling is probably not.

Not gonna lie, I always liked it.

That would be shocking. We’d be looking at a re-tooling. Someone from the core would be out, but a rebuild, absolutely not

It was not said. But the pressure to make a change may be too great without success for it to ultimately mean anything different.

McCabe will be top 4 I’m pretty confident of that. That said, I expect us to roll 3 pairs fairly closely tbh

If Dubas had the trade deadline like last year, acquiring Gio and Blackwell and Lyubushkin earlier and nibbling I’d say he was toast. This level of roster reconstruction, probably safe.

Are you saying you believe he will be let go if they lose again?

I think Schenn makes a lot sense with Rielly. I am likely in the minority, but I also believe this should be the third pairing.
