WOW

Was that actually said? I think it may have been what some fans wanted to hear but I can't imagine it was declared.
IIRC Dubas said something understanding why he was not extended. I thought it was well known and why most think they need to win a round or Kyle is out.

All this talk about schenn being worth a boatload of picks. Gets a third.
In a universe we're in people talk like the leafs have no draft picks, yet trade a defense get one and a 1st. I think the people tend to have no clue. They are looking to be the straw that stirs the drink and breaks the camels back.

Believed and known are different things.
IMO, it's believed that will happen. I personally don't think so.

Pretty happy to have Schenn back for only a 3rd rounder. The fact that we got a similar value pick back for Engvall makes this a huge win. Engvall would make way less of an impact than Luke Schenn.

Either guy might be scratched in the playoffs for some of the games. But that's just a sign of our solid depth.

Playoffs are going to be fun.

The moves don’t seem like lame duck GM but we saw this with AA on the Jays too so you never know. But it would seem like they have full confidence and not letting a GM they don’t like to drive it off the cliff and enter an 8 year rebuild a la Jays.

AA was a little different because he knew that the window was legit closing. All the core players were 30+. For the Leafs the core is all still mid early 20s. Plus there is no David Price equivalent.

This is probably closer to that 2013 offseason.

I agree, I hope it's a long run. If the team is truly cursed, there are things that can be done.....Red Kelly tried Pyramid Power in the 70's, and Imlach hired the CHUM witch in the 60's. They just have to get creative...have they tried an exorcist yet?

I'm willing to buy a rabbit's foot, if that's what it takes.

Funny enough, the Leafs have lost every playoff series they've been in since Canada stopped using the penny. Maybe it's because none of us fans can find a lucky penny to pick up.

i personally think they got him for tampa more than anything else...
he knows their players and their system and that kind of knowledge makes a players job much easier.

after that, we will see.

Interesting observation from a poster named "banks" ;)

McCabe - Brodie = shutdown
Reilly - Schenn = nice balance
Gio - Lilly = nice balance

Assuming no more moves made

Maybe. My guess is though that Dubas and Keefe are on the same page in terms of icing a meaner, competitive lineup.

If no one is traded I would probably sit Lilly for playoffs as the #7. There is no shame beng a.young #7 on an experienced, very deep defense core. He has grown but this.playoff roster must mesh and be unrelenting.
No chance of Lilly sitting.

I have to admit, Im more than a little curious to see how Schenn's game has progressed since he was last a Leaf.

His playstyle always lended itself to being more effective with age and experience.

Love these new guys. ROR seems like a vet member of the Leafs compared to these new acquisitions and it’s only been 10 days.

I will be really surprised if those don’t end up being the pairings

You have more faith in Keefe than I do lol
I like Keefe but when it’s all on the line he will turn to the veterans.
I hope I’m wrong but he did with Liljegren last year

I mean, it was the wrong call last year too imo, but to be fair, Liljegren had far less experience going into the playoffs last year
