Nucks fans keep saying that Schenn has improved as a Dman and that he isn't the same guy who left the Leafs years ago. Lets hope that's true otherwise I don't know why you'd trade for him only to not play him as a regular in the playoffs. Would've been better to keep the pick or use it for something else if that were the case.

Schenn is fine. I'm looking forward to him returning.

I can't believe the negative comments.

Jesus. Let him play a game before you judge.
Man, we seen him play in Vancouver and let me tell you I seen enough. :thumbd:
Or you think we would magically get some sort of different Schenn?

I want to know your opinion of the last week. We got a lot tougher to play against

That was always my biggest beef against Dubas and his inability to address Leafs being a big heavy team that is hard to play against particularly come playoff time, always claiming he believed in his team of speed and skill.

Leafs were bringing a Knife to a Gun Fight in the playoffs.

Last summer Leaf Nation had to watch a 1st round loss to TB and then Dubas summer moves Denis Malgin, Adam Gaudette, Nicolas Aube-Kubel, ZAR, Jamie Benn and Victor Mete ..

My response WTF !!

However its as if Dubas stepped aside and let me GM the Leafs ... Ryan O'Reilly is one of my favourite NHL players and love his 2-way game and grit, leadership and playoff experience. Noel Acciari was tough to play against when he was on the Bruins against the Leafs and top 10 in the NHL in hits. Then I claimed Leafs needed to replace LHD Muzzin with a similar style guy capable of top 4 and in come Jake McCabe to address that, and includes another scrappy depth player in Sam Lafferty .. Then I said McCabe is good but comes in with NO playoff games along with all Leafs youth on D is a weakness and then suddenly Luke Schenn who leads the league in hits and 2 Cups experience with TB comes in.

In the course of the last 2 weeks Dubas who claimed he believed in his team has just brought in 6 new players which if they all dress is 1/3 of a starting NHL roster in turnover. That is a lot and it address the biggest needs of playing with grit and physicality and backbone like fans like me have SCREAMED  :pullhair:about for years,

The only weakness I see now is potentially back up goalie, as while I like Murray as a person/player he is simply not reliable to count on being available and so I would like to see Dubas add a veteran goalie with experience. Sammy has only won 1 NHL playoff game his career and I'm not comfortable going with Kallgren and Woll (if Murray is unavailable). All the work done could all be a waste if goaltending can't hold up. If Murray is available great but that would be more a bonus then guarantee and with going all in Leafs should insulate themselves in case he can't play or is injured again. I'd get CBJ Joonas Korpisalo for insurance.

Dubas with his ass on the line finally and mercifully has given the Leafs a real team with a real chance come playoff time that soooooo many fans have wanted for years.

Improved. Lol. Schenn is one of the reasons Van is in the basement of very weak division. He would be eaten alive in the East.

This a fun thought... since our system is the D coming down the boards and pinching in the o-zone... we now have McCabe and Schenn making hits any time the opposing forwards try to clear the zone

With the incredible depth the Leafs put together no combination needs to be set in stone. If Rielly needs a babysitter at times we'll have a babysitter for him without taking apart another pairing.
I don't mind the acquisition, but I do mind if it pushes a better D (and yes, Holl is better) out of the lineup full time.

But as depth of for spot usage against heavier opponents, I can live with that.

Really happy Luke is back in a Leafs uniform. Fills a big need, great character guy, has a cup under his belt. Great trade.

I like the Schenn move for nostalgia but I'm not expecting the a ton from him so I hope he's not going to be overused .. although he's playing well and it works to his favour he's been the defensive guy with Hughes. I am concerned about his mobility and puck movement though, in contrast to Sandin. Particularly in the Leafs' system that emphasizes puck movement and possession.

Pretty obvious we traded skill/puck movement for physicality/strength.

IMO the Leafs can roll two strong defensive pairings in McCabe-Brodie and Gio-Liljegren to take on tougher match ups while Rielly-Schenn can be used in better situations. There might be some thought process that Schenn's role would be similar to how he has been used in Vancouver, except with better support around him.

I am reading the trade wire and honestly, to a T, Dubas is exchanging the exact pieces Inwould have (and then some). any of you can look at my history. O Reilly, check, Scheen, check, Sandn gone (as it was the trade piece and Lilly has taken that place), check, Engball gone, check.

To get the other pieces is beautiful work. Dubas has really upped his game and looked at the team objectively. This team is now a force for the playoffs.

Schenn was 23 when we got rid of him. He wasn't a franchise level D, but you love to have him back at 33 in a specific role as a veteran having seen what he's seen and experienced winning on Tampa Bay. Kind of fills a bit of the Bogosian role. Still wish we had kept Bogosian.

Man.

I’m way too hyped for this haha

I shouldn’t be this pumped, but I am.

Was always disappointed how his time with us ended. I hope he can come back and put a better end to the story. Wouldn’t mind keeping him around either. He and Timmins would be some nice options to play behind Brodie and Liljegren next year too

Speaking of TB then were rumoured interested in bringing Schenn back for an attempt at a 3rd Cup.

I'm so glad that move was made simply to have him playing with us than against us and this time pushing TB players with his hits. :)

I'm factoring playing keep-a-way from TB regardless on his usage on the Leafs as a big win.
