Schenn has been pretty successful playing with Hughes so my guess is that they acquired Schenn to be paired with Rielly. Hopefully it works out.
Awesome! 2 questions.

So how many minutes per game was he playing in Vancouver? (5th on team - bottom pairing minutes)
How good is Vancouver's D? (31st out of 32 in GAA)

Now he is going to come to the Leafs and play on the top pairing? Even Tampa never played him in the playoffs, they are a very smart team that won 2 cups with Schenn on the roster but not playing.

If Schenn is a regular in the lineup, the Leafs will not be winning the Cup.
Worse players have won cups, but I also don’t think Schenn will be anything more than the #7 or 8 that Keefe pulls out when he wants a more physical blue line for a few games.

Great f***ing move.

Big boss in the back. Going to be great as a 6/7D who beats the snot out of rats. Also excels at clearing the net and breaking cycles.

All elements we are lacking for only a 3rd rounder. Perfect

Holy Crap - Was Dubas not happy with anything he did up till now? Seems he'll just undo everything and remake his depth core on the fly....

We're on pace to finish with 112 pts - it's not like we were bad.

They replace a 3rd line for One of best playoff player last decade and its the inly change in top 9

He add a complete 4th line much better ( it was a huge issue)

Adding a replacement for muzzin, thats was a huge need and a depht D who will fighting with liljegren and holl for remaining starting spot

its a great job

I don't think this move was necessary, and I hope this wasn't done with the intention of making Schenn a regular in the lineup... it worries me after Keefe and Lyubushkin last year...

That said, it's pretty darn cool to have Schenn back. Lots of jerseys going to be dusted off.

HAHHAHAHA LETS GO DUBASSSSSSSSSSSS

My boy is finally learning. I WANT WAR
Huh.

I would rather have a Cup, thanks....and if Scheen plays anymore than Tampa played him, then the Leafs are going nowhere fast.

Didn’t Tampa do exactly that? I’m not that high on schenn but he addresses an element that our backend severely lacks, including but not limited to handling Tampas forecheck.

With the incredible depth the Leafs put together no combination needs to be set in stone. If Rielly needs a babysitter at times we'll have a babysitter for him without taking apart another pairing.

Not a huge fan of this one if I’m being honest.

We added a nice amount of grit with ROR, Accari, McCabe/Laf

This to me might be more of the over compensation like we did with Foligno and Nash.

Who do you pair schenn with? No real option looks appealing imo.

He pairs with Benn in the pressbox

I have thought about it a bit.

As of right now, I really don't like it. A great story and all, Schenn returning home for a Cup run, but he's a #6/7D at this point.

That means we have either burned a 3rd round pick for D depth when we already had 8 capable NHL D or he's going to actually play and make our D core worse. (Nightmare scenario: Schenn is the intended replacement for Liljegren. Don't lie, you can see it happening).

Maybe there is another shoe to drop. It would make sense given that 9D is beyond what is needed for depth. But if not, then combined with the Sandin trade, this has not been a good 24h for Dubas IMO.

I can't see Dubas moving a 3rd for Schenn unless he has another deal lined up for Holl or Gustafsson to recoup that 3rd.

schenn is not a top 4.

There is no universe that schenn is a top 4 on a contender anyway.

He is quite easily the worst dman we have fighting for that position with timmins and gustaffson.
