Not a fan…wasn’t a fan when he was here. Slow and not great with position.

Now he is older and slower and no better defensively and we want him to replace guys we had?

Hopefully he doesn’t see the ice often in playoffs. Unless it’s a goon team.

Great story but he doesn’t make us better. McCabe does…and Gus is a better overall defender.

Hopefully Lilly and Gio don’t lose minutes….they have been our best defenders

I didn't like him when he was here either but it was more about him not being a franchise foundation piece. He does a job and will have a lot more help in front and around him this time around.

I say keep an open mind. One of the factors cited in Quinn Hughes breakout as an offensive superstar in Vancouver over the past couple of years has been Luke Schenn's babysitting. Morgan Rielly isn't a kid, but sometimes he could use a little babysitting.
Hughes got more explosive burst than Reilly.
What Schenn does best is breaking up opposing cycles in their own zone. So hopefully, that continues with the Leafs.

I do see Schenn being a no nonsense guys that would just drop the gloves when and if someone take liberty on AM or MM or Willie.

Put it this way, I don't think Perry will be doing what he did the past two playoffs against us bc he knows Schenn will be waiting for him.

Yep, he's a specific tool for specific situations, but could also see him utilized to calm things down for Rielly on occasion.

We have the deepest blueline I can ever recall as lifelong Leaf fan.

I need to see Schenn play for a few games to judge whether or not he deserves to play ahead of any of our top 6 regularly, but I'm glad to have him as another option. He brings an element that was lacking on our blueline.

Yeah….He is a good locker room guy but he will be a liability on the ice :(

I just hope he doesn’t play a lot of minutes .

A lot of D here….another move coming?

Schenn...McCabe...Gustafsson (the spelling is somewhat close). In 2023??? ;)

Yes, another UFA has been added. Regardless, I do appreciate that further depth has been added to an important spot. Welcome back, Human Eraser!

No real needle-movers from this flurry, except Sandin has been replaced by a late but genuine1st rounder, in the search for whatever Dubas still wants.

I would pick a goalie, not entirely knowing what is going on with Murray. For the assets on/around the table, that seems reasonable?

Definitely more to come.

They move the needle by not being bullied up and down the ice anymore

No more of this:

People worrying about the trade when it'll be a conditional 11th rounder

It really is :D

I'm telling you Kyle was collecting dirt on other GMs for years to call some favours this year...I have to admit my scepticism about his spreadsheet, but clearly, it contains correct formulas. I assumed analytics are used to analyze games on the ice, not games off the ice.

3rd round pick, that's halfway to future consideration in my book.

I don't fully comprehend the Sandin move yet, but damn I like Luke Schenn for 3rd with all other additions.
Subtracting at this point, confusing as hell, but all additions were well chosen.

We Can

We Will

How he did that?

Dubas said the McCabe trade was not a reaction to anything TB was doing. I think this trade was.

I could easily see the Leafs running 7 D for some games. Let Schenn take on the goon lines and save Lily and others for more important minutes.

I said on draft day 2008 you don't trade up 3 picks to draft Luke Schenn as the foundation of your rebuild, but he's more of a guy you pick up at the deadline to win a cup one day like the Leafs tried to do with Luke Richardson. It's come full circle.

You can see the passion and motivation from Schenn's comments. Motivated people do great things for an organization. I think he'll surprise many people (in a good way).

Or just play Lilly on the 3rd or 4th line over Kerfoot and let Schenn play D, lol

I don't think he will drop the gloves in the first game back as a Leafs bc he will most likely playing against Nucks. But he will drop the gloves along with a big hit at home and the crowd will go crazy

I am solidly MEH about the Schenn redemption tour, but I am delighted for everyone who gets to fish their Schenn jerseys out of the closet for another kick at the can.

I am not meh at all about our defensive depth. This is a deep and strong blueline.
If Schenn is a regular in the lineup, the Leafs will not be winning the Cup.

I could see 7D for sure. Schenn is a lot more than a goon, but if it prevents wasting a roster spot on Simmonds I'm all for it

Since 93 for sure.

If he knocks Kucherov on his ass a handful of times and beats the piss out of Corey Perry, it will be a job well done.
Exactly!

The physical advantage Tampa had over us is gone. I love this
+1
