Confirmed with Link: Leafs acquire Jake McCabe (@50%), Sam Lafferty, cond. 2024 and 2025 5th round picks for Joey Anderson, Pavel Gogolev, 2025 1st (top 10 prot), 2026 2nd

Re Howard Berger: I can remember him being all in for trading a first rounder for Kelly Kisio, back in the day.

Don’t give up your day job with the undertaker, Howard.

Look at this smug arrogant punk piece of shit explaining his deal

Dude won the lottery with Nick Paul playing like Wayne Gretzky in game 7. Would happen 1-35 times.
Went to the well again but this time it isn't going to end up as fortunate. He gave up WAY over market value and it will hurt his ability to add any more pieces.

He gets a D- from me

And 5 years younger, McCabe.

3 Million dollars a season cheaper

I got a real Trumpian-Truth-Social vibe reading Berger’s post.

Dude has been dillusional since the 90s. Don't know how he got his media gig.
If there's a face for douchebag, he gets it.

Back in the day he used to make up utter nonsense about hockey players

The team needed a different balance, a different look, and more players who can play the grinding style. I think Dubas has accomplished that.
He's brought in some guys who will and can do it, for sure. It's time to get rid of the guys who won't or can't.

Kerfoot needs to go and possibly Engvall. I don't mind Engvalls methodical play but its obvious we're not going to get more out of him.

Time to weed out the guys who aren't the answer. Glad to see Dubas is finally getting around to it.

This was the type of aggressive dealing I hoped Dubas would be doing. Not extending him and forcing him to prove himself was the right move. Playoff success or bust for the young GM and you can't really say now he didn't try his best. This is the best leafs team on paper during the Matthews/Marner era, no doubt about it. They are absolutely a contender. Now...please stay completely healthy as we near the post-season.

McCabe - 122 Hits
Lafferty - 94Hits
Aciari - 168 Hits

Kerfoot- 36 hits
Engvall - 39 hits
Jarnkrok - 40 hits

Its good to see the Leafs attempting to keep up with the arms race in the Atlantic.

This is going to be a hard-fought battle to get out of the Div, so all the warriors we can dress the better.

Now we just add Matt Martin and Luke Schenn to complete the goon squad (assuming kerfoot/holl going other way)

Bunting - Matthews - Nylander
O'Reilly - Tavares - Marner
Jarnkrok - Kampf - Engvall
Martin - Acciari - Lafferty

Rielly - Brodie
Mccabe - Liljegren
Giordano - Schenn
Sandin

And 5 years younger, McCabe.

The main difference besides getting younger is unfortunately the loss of playoff experience.

Jake Muzzin has 2 Stanley Cups under his belt with LA, while Jake McCabe has never played in an NHL playoff game before.

Timothy Liljegren with 2 playoff games has more experience in this regard.

Not ideal, but you can't always get everything. :)

Yep, and McCabe+Liljegren+ConnSmytheWinner Cap < Muzzin

Gotta give it to Dubie folks .. he is loading up for da arms race which is da Atlantic .. basically 2 SC final series in round 1 and potentially round 2 .. likely gets a bit easier in potential round 3 with canes/rangers and then back to SC final against Avs .. da hardest road to a CUP in da history of pro sports .. maybe 1 more hard to play against defender in da wings ???????????????? .. and a dowloading of Kerfoot I imagine unless someone goes on LTIR in next 2 games

Fans of other teams get pretty pissed off when you suggest that there's an Eastern Elite League (Champions League of Hockey).
That pacficier league is a joke
Oilers are lucky that they are in that AHL league with the greatest player in modern history

Say what you will about Dubas but he has defiantly learning what it takes to win in the playoffs. Over the last 2 years he’s adding the right players. Now just need to hope the goaltending holds up because he’s done everything to make the goalies job as easy as possible.
Well said.

Wow.

Kyle Dubas outdoes Kyle Dubas.

Just when you think the O'Reilly trade is the greatest ever made, shifty Kyle Dubas steps up and does it again. And such a low cost too. How does one GM ever manage to mastermind all these lopsided trades?

It's 2021 all again.

When Kyle Dubas said he was going to roll it back, I assumed he meant with the same core. I didn't realize it applied to the trade deadline too. This is trade deadline 2021 all over again.

TDL2021.02

Foligno/O'Reilly - captain, middle six player, declining vet on the wrong side of thirty, DAMAGED GOODS.

Everyone else are bottom of the roster duds that won't make a difference.

And McCabe.

Who is more proper a 2RHD than a 1RHD.

Even though the Leafs will probably play him as one.
