Confirmed with Link: Leafs acquire Jake McCabe (@50%), Sam Lafferty, cond. 2024 and 2025 5th round picks for Joey Anderson, Pavel Gogolev, 2025 1st (top 10 prot), 2026 2nd

As a Hawks fan, you got 2 of our, if not most, almost most consistent performers game in and game out. Lafferty will be great on 4th line and PK.

Good luck in the playoffs!
Cheers can you give us your analysis of each guy? What can we expect of them on our team.

If you'd asked me a month ago to pick an impact forward, a physical defenceman, and 2 depth role players to add to the Leafs' roster, I couldn't have named a better fit than ROR, McCabe, Accairi, and Laferty.

These guys are exactly what the team has been missing. And it wasn't like the team was a mess beforehand.

It's not even an "all-in" deal, really. We have Mccabe and Lafferty at a bargain for multiple years, and we kept all of our top prospects. That 2024 first won't see the NHL for 5 years at best.
Well as an individual trade no, but what’s he’s done the past week is all in

This is what going all in looks like. This is similar to what Tampa has done paying a premium for cap beneficial additions.

I am surprised that no significant prospect has been traded. Undoubtedly if Chicago (or St. Louis) valued prospects like Knies, Minten and Robertson more than a late 1st, a couple of them may have been dealt instead of the draft picks.

Have to imagine some roster bodies will be moving out.

I feel if we bench Sandin in the playoffs again he will not be a Leaf for a long time after that.

All-in is IMO a really dumb term for hockey - no matter what you do you still have a team FFS, it's not like poker where you lose and you're done.

You point is completely valid nevertheless, even for people who do want to use the all-in term, Toronto is definitely not a team that it applies to. Like you said, we kept our top prospects and even more importantly, our core is mostly in their prime but young enough that they will be in their prime for years to come.

I haven't been this excited since we best Detroit in 93. Get it done boys, you guys can't possibly know how much this town will get behind you if you start winning in the playoffs but I can guarantee you, it will unlike anything you can even imagine!

GLG!!

Jake McCabe has spent virtually his entire career playing on defensive disasters.

What are the expectations here? Has this guy been a diamond in the rough for awhile now?
Sure is an interesting proposition isn’t it, never played for a team that isn’t hemmed in all night, and he still excelled.

I think he’s all but secured an extension now, if the team doesn’t get it done, it’ll be on Keefe and the players. What more can Dubas do? He’s made all the big moves and made this team better. The players have to perform and keefe has to get them ready to do so.

I agree. I was half in and half out on Dubas but it seems like he’s learned that we need to surround our soft core 3 with some competitive type
Keefe has to be smiling from ear to ear now.

Lafferty, McCabe, ROR, Acciari ... much tougher to play against
Dubas has learned, it’s on keefe and the boys now.

I don't get people whining about the traded picks.

Picks help you win in the future.

Players help you win now.

If you want the picks you're basically saying you want to win in the future at the sacrifice of wins now.

Not to mention picks can be recouped by trading players.
