With the state of our D, even if a risk...its a must do.
when did you find out these key facts ? and where ?
Impressive !It's kind of you absorb info, and remember it over time.
For example...

Family Support Carries Lightning’s Darren Raddysh Through Career Challenges
The Tampa Bay Lightning's Masterton nominee is enjoying a career season at age 30. Raddysh, who was not drafted, is a model in dedication and persistence.ca.sports.yahoo.com

Wait....since you know zero about this player, you are judging whether it's a good or bad signing by his previous salary....and using that as your argument? It was my mistake getting pumped before the info came out.
With the cap going up, I was hoping AAV could be thrown around for team flexibility.
Makes sense that’s hope more than reality
It’s good players have more control of being traded these days. They aren’t just hockey cards
Wonder what he turned down from Tampa?

Phaneuf when he could actually hit the net. Which was rare. Was Bryan McCabe the last D man we had with a legit canon shot on the blue line for the PP?
Yes. Phaneuf doesn’t count because he could never hit the net.Was Bryan McCabe the last D man we had with a legit canon shot on the blue line for the PP?
Pavel Kubina had a bomb and was a double digit goalscorer for the Leafs. But I'm expecting Raddysh to be significantly better, at least on the PPWas Bryan McCabe the last D man we had with a legit canon shot on the blue line for the PP?

RightYes. Phaneuf doesn’t count because he could never hit the net.

He popped off last season for sure but he was still good the year before.
Finished 38th in the league for PPG for dmen without being on a top PP.
Yes, aggressively targeting the best free agent defenseman ahead of the open market is completely asinine.Dumb organization continues to do dumb things

The opportunity to properly rebuild the blue and Centre positions - where Champuonships are won and lost.

Thank you for the proof everyone needed to see.Current salary is a very reliable predictor of next salary.
Name another 29 year old undrafted D on essentially a league minimum one year deal that got 8.5 x 8 with trade protections for the next deal.
Has there been one that’s coming off 70 points and is a UFA? I mean regardless of how you feel. Raddysh simply peaked at the right time. He was gonna make massive money on the open market as a RHDCurrent salary is a very reliable predictor of next salary.

He was a good player. He was overpaid and in a role he couldn't perform at a high level, but he was certainly effective. He would have made a great 2nd pairing guy at like 4.5-5m.Phaneuf's tenure with the Leafs is seriously underrated. The guy didn't and still doesn't get enough credit, in my opinion.
That said, your post is still %100 correct.
