Interested to see if this is just a depth move to have in the system...or if they value him/think there's gas in the tank there.

Still don't understand Keefe was willing to use Jumbo again and again with AM and MM last season but refused to even try Spezza with AM and MM.
I agree. I don't like Spezza there full time, as I think his minutes being managed/playing lesser competition is part of what makes him so effective. However, he is very visibly the superior player to Thornton at this stage of their careers, and he doesn't even get a sniff

Considering we practically picked him up on waivers, does that mean that the Blues are miles better than us and their fans can laugh at us.

Kinda how some guys acted with Brooks?
considering the Leafs traded for him to play on the Marlies, it isn't "practically" the same as picking him up on waivers to play in the NHL. Good try though!

Marlies addition I hope. We already have a guy that can play tough and is useless offensively in Simmonds.
I wouldn't say Simmonds has been useless offensively. He has had a ton of chances that just haven't gone in for him. If he wasn't getting chances I would agree. Eventually they'll start going in.

I think the trade made sense over a waiver claim because there isn't a spot available at the moment. I wouldn't be shocked if he were to play at some point though.

What team did Brooks play with, and right now what team is Clifford going to play with?

That's the difference.

But might as well run with that opportunity to look silly.....

his doesn't mean new trades by us no sire? Cause I was thinkin like... he was out there to be catched by waivers... maybe dubas caught a new trade partna/crime partna and now he got clifford and is trading away one of our suckas? This ain't happening though no sire`?

No this is just a sign that we have much deeper pockets than the Blues.
It would hurt them to pay Clifford 1M to play in the AHL. To the Leafs that cash is almost meaningless. We add depth they shed payroll.

In one shift reeves dumied liljergin
No one stepped up . Unwritten rule...don't touch rookies or the captain and I've seen both go unanswered with leafs

Not sure if that will be Clifford but its the right direction

Just a depth move. Contract that can be buried in the minors. For future considerations, that’s basically nothing.

Honestly seems like some insurance if Simmonds or Ritchie get hurt.

Fine move

Cliffy fought Reaves last season in St. Louis ; lost but I think most people do against Reaves.

Only people that could probably beat Reaves in a scrap is MacDermid, Wilson, and Johnston.

Practically picking up someone on waivers is a made up thing. It is like barely winning.
