Every leafs young player are overrated

Previously its was liljegren who was the next top pair dman, now minten the next ROR...

He's a good young with pretty high hockey IQ and will become a pretty good 3 C but honestly that's it. Don't think he have skill to be more than a 3rd line player in NHL.

Minten is only 20 so he has plenty of time to develop. Smart player, good size and plays a position that we are light on. Would've rather just sent more picks to the Bruins than give them Minten. Lets hope Carlo is good because otherwise Brad just messed up bigtime. Leafs didn't have many good prospects in the system and they just gave up one of their better ones in this deal.

Exactly. The Leafs gave up a lot for two players, but I really like the acquisition along with the ones that have come along this past summer.

I'm actually quite bullish on this team in the playoffs. There's a good chance that they could still bow out in the 1st round just because of how stacked Tampa and Florida are lol - but I'm confident that they'll at least get half-decent goaltending and go down swinging to the very end this time around. That in itself is worth a couple of 1st rounders in the mid-20s and a young 3C prospect.

He’s probably going to just be a 30-35 point gritty C making 900k for 3 years, those are barely worth anything.

Btw did you see the steal we got with Laughton? Only cost us a 1st+ and we got a 30-35 point gritty C/LW only making 1.5 mil for 2 years, what a win!

It may seem like it, but that's mostly based off CBJ and MTL losses which were 4&5 years ago. The last three years they've played Tampa x2 and Boston and are 1-2 so i don't think it's actually the case.

I know I'd love to play Detroit/Ottawa instead of Florida/Tampa this year. There's no such thing as a gimme, but I'd be much happier letting Florida and Tampa tesr each other apart than having to get through both of them (most likely) to get out of the Atlantic.

I guess we'll see what kind of player Minten will become in a few years. Just don't like giving up on a young center who looks like he has room to grow instead of keeping him. And again lets hope Carlo is better than Bruins fans say he is right now. Maybe should've went to Columbus and traded for Peeke a couple of years back that the Bruins got for just a 3rd pick that Bruins fans rate about the same if not better than Carlo.

Florida was the 8th seed and 17th best team overall in 2023. Calgary had a better record but they couldn't make the playoffs in the west, and Pittsburgh was supposed to beat Chicago very easily in game 81 to clinch the final playoff spot in the east. They lost that game and the rest was history.

He will never be able to create enough offense to play 2c. He's just not that type.

And if he becomes our 3c, we'll be looking at every deadline for a 3c with experience. He just won't cut for the next few years. Better to move him now while we're contending.
