I love imagining how we don't have to play the f***ing Bruins.
Was getting so sick of how they get to play their brand of hockey, but another team brings the same style against them and it's penalty after penalty.
I'm scarred by the Bruins, gotta admit it. They're really good, and I'm very relieved that they are out of our division this year. Might sound cowardly but I don't care, was getting tired of it.
That second Spezza goal was a thing of beauty, there were so few of these highlight last season. What a slick pass by Brodie to start the play and what a nice play by Boyd to give him a moving target and haul it in. Fourth line, wooo.
He looks like a modern day bottom 6 player to me. He can create, and he can pressure. He has had games like this in the past for the leafs. But this one was easily his best as a leaf. I hope keefe rewards him on Saturday, because he was great. I know spezza got the trick, but I thought Petan drove the bus for that line tonight. He was all over the puck. There is nothing Vancouver fans love more than losing to Toronto. Huge props to Petan. Like I said in the game day thread, I have watched him closely over the years. He is a much better player then many fans give him credit for. He won’t score a lot but he can make plays. He finds ways to keep possession. Hope they give him a legit chance.
Funny enough, I responded to this tweet...
..and some of the responses from Habs fans were... at least we didn't lose to Ottawa.... Karma my friends, Karma...
Spezza, playing on the 4th line, scored as many goals tonight as the entire third line has this season (Vesey 2, Kerfoot 1, Soup 0).
Keefe was apparently aware of this stat so he sent Kerfoot and his linemates out at the end of the game for a late PP ... Needless to say, they didn't score.
And in the end, that will help the offense. If you work harder as a forward to retrieve pucks in your own end, means less time the opponent has possession and time to score, which results in more time for your own team to score. The forwards aren't hanging them out to dry like they used to
Looks like Keefe is getting some buyin and everybody is working at both ends of the rink rather than cherry picking for offense
As a life long Leaf fan all I can say is it's a nice change![]()
Aside from the goals, my favourite play of the game was Willy going 3 on 1 and winning the puck battle.
......while sliding on his knees without a stick
Babcock was a real piece of shit.
It doesn't matter. f*** recognition. Go out and win. Show that you can win the big moments. Team trophies. Then recognition will BOOST.Matthews is in the same league as McDavid and MacKinnon.
Sadly it'll never be realized the rest of the hockey world because he's in blue and white.
Hats off to Petan for making the most of his opportunity..
Would play him again
Not to rub salt in the wound but... Pettersson was a bit quiet.
When you forget where Matthews is and he is one feet from your net, you might be to old to play hockey. When you get beat wide by a 37yo Jason Spezza, it might be time to hang em up
Why people keep saying that about waivers? It was universally known that Spezza would not report to any team, so there was absolutely zero sense to claim him.So close with Matthews and the double hat trick. I'll take the win, Spezza's hatty (good that he wasn't claimed off of waivers) and the return of Petan! Unfortunate with the Dermott injury though and playing that much of the game with 5D.
They have all different skill set, but definitely at same level. We should call them McJesus, MacJesus and MatJesus.Matthews is in the same league as McDavid and MacKinnon.
