It doesn't matter. f*** recognition. Go out and win. Show that you can win the big moments. Team trophies. Then recognition will BOOST.

He knows it.

What have the other two won outside of pointless individual awards?

Not everything was babvag's fault. It is as though the players figured out they were next if their attitude didnt change.

I also think our best players playing much more helped. THe style of play was not wise as well.

If you don't see that Keefe is doing many things much differently than Babcock then you're blind.Let's start with Spezza, not playing him in our home opener was a move that's simply beyond contempt[\B] and I really don't see Keefe ever doing anything that dumb. It's almost as though when players feel like the coach is on their side instead of seeing him the enemy, they play better.

Just a great game last night, all I can ask for now is some consistency. Hoping for two more solid wins so we can head into the MTL games on a high.

Love Simmonds. I've been calling him Black Lightning, I think as far as nicknames go it's a pretty good one and lightning sure did strike last night. :)
Imo the bolded is the biggest thing, not the specific incedent but the message that was sent and seemed to be a theme. That demoralizes a team.
Other than that there has been a good bit of personal change on the ice that will also account for the on ice performance too. This team is more rounded than the Babcock teams.
Better coaching attitude combined with a more balanced roster brings us to the team we are watching now, but that's just my opinion

I don't want to get too carried away but I'm starting to get a warm and fuzzy feeling about this team. The way we played last night is just a small part of it but watching Simmonds do his thing and hearing Spezza's comments after the game makes me feel like these guys just might be starting to truly come together as a team. Not having to worry about your coach treating you like dirt helps a ton IMO, when you're afraid to make a mistake because your coach might unfairly throw you under the bus in public it's hard to play your best IMO.

If only Andersen can be at his best when the playoffs start ...

Agreed. We play good hockey now.
Fingers crossed with Andersen. He wasn't bad last night but he wasn't great either. Fingers crossed he figured it out for the playoffs. I mean that's really when you want your goalie to get really dialed in

That is one bad hockey team those Canucks.

Too bad it looked like they sent their AHL team and not their NHL team to Toronto.. :sarcasm:

You know your a bad team when Jason Spezza is scoring a hattrick while in his twilight years and walking around your defense that he looks like McDavid against you.

Vancouver is going to battle Ottawa for the bottom of the CDN division.

Great win last night, but let’s be honest, this Canadian division is terrible. Montreal and Winnipeg are decent, the rest of the teams are garbage.

Just can't take this regular season seriously. 56 games vs 6 teams, two of which are terrible.

It's true, our division sucks and every time I see someone bragging about where we're among the league leaders in this or that I'm going to cringe a little bit. I'm not complaining though, we have the easiest path to the final 4 of any team in the league. The only possible downside is that if and when we get there, we might not be as well prepared as our competition as we won't have the experience of playing against really good teams this season. The only way that's even worth thinking about though is if we actually get that far so I'll gladly take it. Next season we're probably back to probably having to face Boston and TB in the first two rounds which is not a happy thought so I'm just going to enjoy this while I can.

Leafs play in one of the best divisions, featuring the two best teams in the league: Yeah, but who cares. Just win, no excuses.

Leafs play some of the best teams in the league in the playoffs, taking them to the limit: Yeah, but who cares. Just win, no excuses. Who you play and why you win don't matter - Vancouver made the 2nd round and that means they're super awesome and better than us and everybody is passing us!!!

Leafs play in a temporary division of unknown quality: Yeah, but like... Vancouver sucks so it doesn't count.

Our only hope is that they learn from the games they play against the Habs. Pond hockey is entertaining but after a while, it gets boring.

What now you are defending the league as well? Seriously, how can you take playing 20% of the league in empty areans seriously? I wish we could fast forward to the playoffs and out of this fricken pandemic.

I won't even get into the terrible officiating we have been seeing.

North is not the only bad division. VEgas has played terible teams and that division is very soft

The East seems to be the best division but if you look at the standings, it should not be hard to determine which 4 teams in each division will make the playoffs. This one month into the season.

That division is pretty soft as well, that's true but Colorado and St Louis are both very good teams, that alone makes their competition tougher than ours. I think MTL will come back down to earth as well, we'll see.

It's like the ATlantic was. 2 or 3 very good teams the rest are crap.

Great game by the Leafs last night. I personally do not care who they play up until the playoffs. I just want them to keep gelling as a team, get better each game, and be healthy heading into the playoffs.

Edmonton, Montreal, Winnipeg and Calgary are not bad teams. They have some very good players playing on those teams. Look at it this way, we are playing the top 2 players in the NHL 8 times this season (McDavid, Draisitle). Monnahan, Gaudreau and Thakchuk arent garbage!!! Either is Schieffle, Wheeler, Connor and Ehlers!

As long as they keep doing that the Leafs will be ok. Baby steps.

We should have enough cap $$$ at the TDL for Dubas to find a top 6 LWer.
