I thought Mitch was pretty good in his own end and on the PK. AM was silent but at least the linedidn't give up anything in their own end.
Marner was invisible once again

Knowing Keefe he's going to say the 4th line got lucky and produced some goals and that the 4th line with Reaves would have done the same with some luck. Never put it past his galaxy braining to put Reaves back in to try to prove his absence was the difference.
For sure Keefe will put Reeves back in, can almost guarantee it. Wrong move but he is going to do it

He was a rock in this game. Really think Sammy is someone who needs to be busy to be good.

Are you referring to Kane?
Could be any appreciably better player, whether on offense or defense. I doubt Pat Kane would sign here, so I don't really consider him an option.

He's a rookie, these things are going to happen in his first handful of games in the NHL and those wrinkles get ironed out in time.

It is and it should fix itself.

A modern power forward on the left side with Matthews and Mitch or even JT, what a time to be alive.

Still want more than one game... but so far it looks like Reaves was holding Kampf back which is what I wanted to see.

Thought the whole team played well for the most part.

Klingberg needs to make decisions faster, and better, but he played better than usual, so that is a good sign, hoping he can build on it.

Lagesson I thought didn't look great tonight.

Some depth scoring is nice.
Still made at least 2 dumb plays I can remember in his own zone but he guy is too high risk sometimes

Knies is on a 20-goal, 40+ point season .. really quite solid
I think he'll get 50+. This kid is only 25 games or so out of college hockey. He has great hands and a long reach. Two things that go together very well. Once he adjusts to the speed of the NHL, the sky's the limit for him. I see him being a Neelander type of player.

Kinda feels like Keefe was forced to give Reaves lots of rope before he could get him out of the line up.

I mean think about it - Keefe has a new boss who just signed this guy to a 3 year deal.
This is absolutely the case, his usage tells the entire story. Keefe has his warts but certainly understands defensive hockey and play-driving, he's not as dumb as many make him out to be.

Much better effort from the entire Leafs team tonight.

Good to see some secondary scoring.

Much better defensively, including Klingberg.

Who knew Giordano aspired to be a heavy weight. Domi tried his best to emulate his Dad.

I better not see another game where the opposing team starts a fight AND DOESN'T receive an instigator penalty. Too often I've seen opposing teams get away without being penalized !!! Our Leafs got 2 of them tonight, warranted or not.

This is a simple way of looking at it, but it's not true

Pretty much. Like mentioned, new boss brings in a new player, you have to give him a longer leash even if you don't want too. He has huge faults but he's pretty good at this kind of stuff. Does anyone seriously think for example another player like Klingberg is his type of player? Not a chance but he has to stick with it.

Domis scored some points for me tonight when he stepped up. That's his role. We need more of that.

Liked that

Nice strong bounce back game for Samsonov, he showed some real mental fortitude tonight to stop the spiraling

I really liked the 3rd and 4th lines to, our big boys are going to get there's but if our bottom 6 start producing were going to put some teams to the sword

The improvement from the depth lines helped out the defense to, being responsible and winning battles makes a defensemans job much easier and the boys on the backend responded

Also well done Domi and Gio, we didn't back down or take any ****, great to see guys having each other's backs

Going to be a miserable day on the west coast tomorrow and I love it.
