Marners game is concerning, does not look right at all. I've always believed that if one of Marner or Nylander had to go it should be Marner

I thought Mitch was pretty good in his own end and on the PK. AM was silent but at least the linedidn't give up anything in their own end.
Without looking up stats id say they probably played the fewest min in a game in a long time. Think keefe was rolling through the lines a lot more than usual , because he could .

It was also those penalties in the first half of the game.. threw ice time out the window really, then when the Leafs were up Keefe could roll lines

Nice opportunity to give that line a rest in the last half of the third

It is really interesting how is fans kept saying Kampf cannot be our 3C and Dubas, BT and Keefe continues to use him as 3C despite at one point having AM, JT and ROR as C.
Then by luck, Minten got into the lineup and then demoted. Leafs need a 3C as they traded their 4C away in Lafferty. In a desperate attempt Keefe throw mud on the wall and hope someone stick and Domi did.
Really going to see Domi start scoring too as he is getting more comfortable and more confidence in his game.

Bingo. Matthews and Marner played the fewest minutes they have played in a long, long time, because the coach had three other competent lines that he could play. It's exactly as it should be. There should be no changes from this lineup, barring a trade that brings in an appreciably better player.

Leafs played their most complete game of the season. They showed grit and determination and team toughness. This was done without Matthews and Marner not playing anywhere near their best. Bertuzzi and Domi looked engaged. Samsonov looked better, even the defence looked ok. Undoubtedly standing up for each other gave this team some gumption.

Hopefully Keefe has finally understood that you don't need a useless plug like Reaves in this lineup. He's no longer capable of playing in the NHL. The 4th line looked good and more engaged without Kampf and Gregor carrying that anchor Reaves. I hope he doesn't put that slug back in next week.

He was a rock in this game. Really think Sammy is someone who needs to be busy to be good.

Are you referring to Kane?

Major don't-call-it-a-comeback games by a few players:
- Samsonov at the top of the list. A lot of those saves were going in in previous games
- Kampf looked like the guy we all knew and (some) loved. Shocked how changing a winger made that much of a difference.
- Klingberg was probably at his best tonight. Very few turnovers, none in dangerous areas and a number of great outlet passes (some to Rielly?).

Really liked everyone else's games except:
- Matthews looked somewhat disinterested. Was kinda skating around sniffing out a few opportunities, but largely just played solid defensively.
- Marner's offensive effort was offensive. Can't pick up a pass. Not making many. Thankfully still on point without the puck.

On M&M, since Mr. Knies guy joined their line, he has been the best player of the three. Tonight especially, he was by far the most effective.

Stellar results in the back-to-back before the the Swedish meatballs kick in!

He matters because he's awful and actively hurts the team
Knowing Keefe he's going to say the 4th line got lucky and produced some goals and that the 4th line with Reaves would have done the same with some luck. Never put it past his galaxy braining to put Reaves back in to try to prove his absence was the difference.
