Good game overall. Was boring. But I'll take a boring win over an exciting loss any day.

The Leafs are kinda boring without Auston Matthews. Opening night/week is usually such a run and gun party with him at the center of everything.

Campbell nylander were amazing

1st, 3rd lines and 1st and 3rd pairings were good

2nd pairing wasn’t amazing but holls block was, and 4th line was invisible

Holl was the reason Montreal scored, but also kind of the reason the leafs won with that block

Kase and Engvall looked really good for most part. Hoping Kase can stay healthy

I noticed nothing from Ritchie. Bunting look decent with few nice passes then kinda dissapeared in the 3rd
But then again Habs had like 4 PP

Ritchie had some presence in front of the net. Was a big part of Engval's goal. Tipped one off the post and one wide.

Overall that line wasn't great. Good but not great.

No. Look at Kampf. That's what an elite defensive center looks like.

I don't really about Kerfoot too much but he did some masterful work pressuring the point men on the PK earlier in the game. Same shock troop stuff we saw in the playoffs last year.

Rough start to the Caufield Calder campaign.

36.33 xGF%, didn't look dangerous at all despite the Habs getting so many power plays and a 5v3.

Leafs are a lot less entertaining without Matthews. Ritchie and Kerfoot were bad. Engvall was really good besides a late brainfart. Habs are unlikely to make the playoffs. Fine enough start to the year.
