I would understand if he was a smaller, one dimensional point getting defensemen. Problem is this guy has great size, and even better wheels to go with it. I would honestly pay money to watch this guy skate, he's that smooth. He has the smarts, just as complete as a prospect as we have had in, well forever.

Honestly, why does it matter if he's getting hyped or not?

It seems to me that the Hitmen know what they have in him (playing 25-30+ minutes a night), the Flyers know what they're getting in him, and how to develop him properly, and the fans that care are aware of him. Beyond that, why does it matter if he's hyped or not?

personally i thinks its weird you dont hear more about him. but in the couple of hitmen games ive seen on tv this season hes been featured both times at the beginning of broadcast and hyped as one of the best players in the whl. all i know is if anyone else had him id be jealous...his skating and offensive contributions are beyond impressive.

I think the main reason he isn't talked about is because he wasn't at the WJC.

That will all change next year.

I hope he packs on 10 lbs of muscle this offseason and rips apart the WHL.

Very true. He arguably had the skills to be at the 2015 WJC, but really would have been the 7th defenceman. Nurse, Morrisey, Theodore, Morin, and Bowey were all better picks, and Heatherington is a great defensive defenceman so I can see picking him over another offensively minded one. The only guy I can argue that Sanheim should have been there instead of was Hicketts, but he had a solid tournament and is putting together a solid season.

To me, the bigger insult was Sanheim being sent home before Fleury.

The part that made no sense to me was having Hicketts over Sanheim, Fleury would have at least been acceptable.. Sanheim is better than him in every single facet of the game.

Hicketts plays the right side. Sanheim plays left. They needed someone to play the right side.

*********, if I'm building a team I'm taking the better player. They won so whatever, but I'm sure Sanheim would have had no problem transitioning to the right side. Whatever Sanheim is a much better player and I could care less about the WJC, which he'll dominate next year, I'm just glad we have him.

Because arguing which team has better prospects has turned into a massive genitalia measuring competition on these boards.

Thats what I dont understand. Personally, I like to do my massive genitalia measuring competitions in person.

BTW Sanheim = great prospect

Was at the game last night, he looked good.

He wasnt overly noticeable other than on this shift (I'm saying it as a compliment, the other D men on the ice were too noticeable, if you know what I mean).

He's a good one. Smart, patient D man. Obviously good offensively as well.

I've seen Bowey a lot over the course of his career being from Kelowna, and although I havn't seen Sanheim nearly as much, I think he's the superior player with relative ease.

Looks like he is going to lead the WHL in D scoring. Pretty good year.

65 points in 67 games and +27.

Looking forward to seeing him on the WJC team next year.

Edit: thanks Striiker for mentioning my typo...fixed.

The Hitmen handed out team awards today.

Travis Sanheim is:

Top Defensive Player and Player of the Month.

And with his goal today he is the top scoring D-man in the WHL.

The Hitmen clinched the Central Division title and get The Kootenay Ice and Sam Reinhart in the first round.

Button thinks he's the best '96 defender not in the NHL.

What a shot/goal to cap off a great year. Tied 2-2 late in the game, and shows off a howitzer to clinch the division.

Pretty much clinched having the most points among dmen in the WHL.

Flyers took a chance on a "riser" who didn't have the pedigree & only had a 1/2 season of great play.

So far, Hextall and Co. are looking like geniuses.

What a great prospect, the Flyers have a good one for sure. His stock sky rocketed last year and he continued to improve this year. I wonder where he would go in a re-draft. 10-15 range potentially?

I would have to imagine he would be the second defensemen selected at this point (so top 10 possibly?). The upside was apparent even last year but now there's a big sample size to back that up.
