The good thing is that all of them are different in styles....but can all skate.

Sanheim....looks to be a great 2way guy in the making....Pietrangelo.
Ghost....looks to be great offensively....Keith.
Morin....beast of a kid and mean....hmmmm....Chara.
Hagg....steady, not flashy....Oduya
Friedman....smaller all around guy....Timonen.

Boy....I wish those came true...lol. And relax people, I'm wishfully thinking here.

Agree with the other comparisons but the Ghost-Keith comparison is way off. Keith is more of a two-way defensemen with excellent size. If anything, Sanheim compares to Keith and Pietrangelo as they are very similar defensemen.

Gostisbehere compares to a guy like Torey Krug, Sami Vatanen and going back further, guys like Dan Boyle. He's undersized and 170 lbs soaking wet but his quickness, footwork, and offensively instincts are elite.

Good post. I mostly agree with you but just wanted to point out that Gostisbehere was over 180 at prospect camp in the summer. I'd assume he's even bigger now. He should be back playing in 3-4 weeks. But I'm sure we won't see him back to his true self until next year.

Theodore, maybe. Morrissey, no way.

Yeah I would have to agree. Morrissey puts up points, but Theodore is probably the most offensively talented defender in the WHL. Both are 19 though. Sanheim has a better feel defensively than Theodore IMO. WHL is stacked though.

easily? c'mon bro.

Offensively, yeah. In the year after their draft year, apples to apples:

Theodore: 70GM 22G 57A 79PTS
Morrissey: 59GM 28G 45A 73PTS
Sanheim: 47GM 10G 38A 48PTS

Don't get me wrong, I like Sanheim a lot and think he's our best prospect. But best in the WHL offensively, he isn't. I also like his all-around package more than Theodore's.

I honestly don't know much about Theodore or Morrissey since I can't watch either of them play, but Sanheim looks like still has plenty of room to improve since he looks like he's 13 years old. He's still physically maturing needs to add a bunch of muscle. Look at how much Morin changed over one summer, he looked like a kid when he was drafted and then gained a ton of muscle.

Is this guy a top 10 defensemen prospect? He has to be IMO.

Being a top 10 d prospect isnt really that big of an achievement lol. Hes probably in the top 5. If you are not top 10 in your position you probably top out as a bottom pairing/3rd/4th liner.

I think that's definitely an over exaggeration, but your point stands.

He has 55 points in 54 games...tied for the top spot in scoring for WHL dmen. Rarely gets talked about.

watched whl hitmen game recently...only seen a couple of their games this year ...anyway pregame sanheim was featured the announcers thoroughly hyped him and how well hes playing this year.

edit: he played really well in game. made some beauty plays, passes etc. plus skates so fast and effortlessly. smart and talented.
