LD Shakir Mukhamadullin (2020, 20th, NJD; traded to SJS)

IMO this is one of the worst Dcore that Russia has iced for the WJC in maybe a decade and SM isn’t even one of the best for the team. That says a lot.

His passing has directly led to a few breakaways and is one of his more positive skill sets he has and yet you claim there's zero creativity or plan... makes me think you don't actually watch the games or Muk so your opinion can be disregarded.

I can’t say enough how much I’m impressed with this player. He’s tall and skinny right now, but in a few years (when he’s filled out into his frame) he’s going to be a very important top four D man in the National League. He’s just so darned smart, and skilled not to.

With all due respect, is it not the opposite? Your fan-base seems to always be criticizing our team. I think there are many Ranger fans who consider the Islanders a bigger rival, let alone some other teams outside of the immediate region like the Flyers, Penguins, Capitals, Bruins. And talking about little-brother syndrome, are the Rangers not the more popular team in the region? Are players attracted to playing in Newark? Of the little attention that hockey gets in the region, are the Rangers not the team talked about by far the most?

This isn't to suggest the Devils are a little brother. I don't see the need to disrespect the Devils without good reason to do so, but I don't see how what you are saying makes any sense. And if you wanted to have that discussion, it would seem like the exact opposite. I also don't know why Ranger fans aren't allowed to comment on Mukhamadullin. Address the arguments made instead of demeaning the whole fan base.

It really depends on how long you’ve been watching hockey. During the 80’s the Isles were probably a bigger rival to the Rangers but between 1990 and 2012 I don’t see how any Rangers fan could possibly say the Isles were a bigger rival than the Devils. There was a period where the Devils went like 20-0-1 against the Rangers over multiple seasons.

There’s also a big difference between a Rangers fan like you, who visibly follows a lot of prospects from different leagues and teams, and the random Rangers fans who only show up to post negative things about the Devils. We know who those ones are because they show up in a lot of Devils threads. I’m sure there are Rangers fans who can pick out the Devils fans who do that to them too.

Great pinch by Mukhamadullin to keep the puck in the offensive zone against a good Swedish team leading to a play at the net. That’s the sort of thing that most fifth round players with no brains do regularly. But let’s just focus on the bad things he does because 18 year old kids never make mistakes except for truly stupid ones with no ability.

I like his game from what I'm seeing. It's not perfect but there is a presence back there and he makes the right little plays where if I wasn't looking I wouldn't notice him.

Super underwhelming prospect and has been disappointing for Team Russia.

He has physics tools but thinks and processes the game at an incredibly low level.

No creativity or plan when has the puck, evident by the many slap shots he has buried into shin pads of the opponent.

He also plays hot potato w. The puck when he has it.

he is worth the risk if he was drafted maybe 5th round or later.

I’m cheering for Team Russia at this years WJC so I hope he turns it around.
Yikes

It think at this point Knyazev is 1D, but that was expected given the age. Mukhamadullin can full well come back next year as a 1D without question marks.

Don't think anyone is arguing the kid is going to win a Norris anytime soon, but I think it's pretty clear you can see the potential and why NJ picked him.

Lots of his game is raw and he is a bit of bean pole, but he has a good tool box to work from.

There really aren't any question marks, His KHL team gives him lots of minutes and now so does the National team. He also just had a great game.

HFboard scouts are just throwing shade on him cause their ego's got hurt when their "scouting" failed them.

Did you read any comments by the fans of that same KHL team? They would tell you that while he is getting minutes he is sheltered and babysitted by a more expericed defeneman, which is absolutely normal and expected at that age. He certainly learned from his blunders in the game vs. the Czechs. You could see he was making better decicions in similar situations. While the other 18 year old Chayka got benchend entirely agaist Sweden. It is what it is. Nobody tells he is terrible. He is just a 18 year old with potential and weknesses, most of which are due to lack of experince or him being an ex-forward, which on the other hand makes his a very mobile player with good offensive insticts and that is what is required of a good defenceman today.

I completely agree with this. And maybe the kid improves. The Devils might get this one right and most people who observed his play previously get it wrong, but thats absolutely the book on him. Really just a raw athlete going into the draft that lined up on defense. He didn't previously have much in the way of sense, ability with the puck, or consistent defensive play.

I think he's started to look a little better this season. He's not a complete train-wreck defensively right now, despite probably not even being average defensively yet. And he's making some more skilled plays with the puck and better passes, so maybe he is improving.
When you agree saying his passing game it shows your complete lack of objectivity. If he was a Rag prospect, you would love him.

No he wouldn't.

Pavel has been consistent on his critique on Muk. Hell he has even noted he has impressed him during the tournament despite his previous opinion on him.

It has nothing to do with the Rangers

Do I love K’Andre Miller? And Mukhamadullin was even worse pre-draft. I at least thought Miller was a 2nd/3rd round pick, even though I doubted he’d pan out. There were a number of people that had Mukhamadullin as DND.

I’m not like you where I like players or not like them based on draft results. I have opinions before and after the draft. Their NHL affiliation is irrelevant. That assessment of Mukhamadullin was the book on him prior to the draft. Can I ask how many games you say prior to the draft to disagree with that asesssment?

I also think this player has shown some improvements this season, but to question people who are discussing the book on him pre-draft when you’re clearly ignorant on his game pre-draft is ridiculous.

I'll wait to see a few dozen write ups by you praising any Devil prospect before I take anything you have to say as non biased. You are known for trashing them.

Also, assessment is not spelt 'asesssment'.

Yes, I'm known for trashing your team's prospects. I'm also apparently known for trashing every team's prospects, including my own. I must hate every team in the league.

Or, and maybe this might be hard to believe if all your opinions are based on what teams drafts a prospect, my opinions are formed on players, and their NHL affiliation is irrelevant. I know that may be hard for you to understand.

But my opinions aren't even relevant. The discussion didn't start with me. A Devils fan criticized another neutral observer about his assessment on Mukhamadullin pre-draft. Why weren't you objecting pre-draft to any of these assessments? Why do you only care now?
