Would be glad if the Sabres snagged him in the third round. His skating along with his size is really good. Would be quite a steal if he could figure out the rest of his game.

Good pick by the Rangers. Wasn't Day supposed to be like a franchise defenseman? What happened to him

Sean Day invited to 2016 USA National Junior Evaluation Camp

So Day has been invited to this year's USA National Junior Evaluation Camp http://teamusa.usahockey.com/page/show/2602432-original-u-s-camp-roster. Can't really blame him but shows that he actually never really identified as Canadian and probably just did it so he could get exceptional status. Remember when Hockey Canada wanted this guy to play for them and then got cut from the U18 team? Either way it doesn't matter. Just another player who's going to try and play for the US because he's upset about being cut by Canada.

Hockey Canada didn't invite him to the U-18's while bringing 3 of his Steelhead teammates (Tippitt, Hague and McLeod) made it pretty clear they were cutting ties with him. How he showed up to the Hilinka camp annoyed a lot of people, and was deemed a costly mistake. His play this season didn't do much to change their opinion.

Gordie Clark who runs our draft, and is probably one of the best in the NHL at it said in an interview that Day had a good season. He made it seem like Day's season prior to this one caused judgement on his 2015-16 season to be clouded.

That is not what I'm hearing from local scouts or people associated with the Steelheads. He may be seeing something different, but most people associated with Sauga thought it was disaster til late in the year, or is just defending a pick he views as high-risk but high-upside. Either way, his play wasn't good enough to Hockey Canada to overlook how bad he was at the Hilinka camp and they viewed Hague as the best defender on the Steelheads.

Can anyone comment on how he looked?
Was at the game. They were playing him at forward. It was strange. His skating as usual was amazing, he also made the classic Day brain fart turning it over at the blue line and didn't track back hard enough.
