LD Rasmus Sandin - Rogle BK, SHL (2018, 29th, TOR)

That was some horrid defending. I'm not sure how that's the fault of anyone other than Sandin. Looks like a yellow traffic cone.

I agree that he had a strong tournament. Was definitely the goat on that last goal but one mistake shouldn’t detract from a really good game and tourney. He had a very good final game!

Brutal defending by Sandin. Cost his team a chance at a gold medal.
Sucks for Sweden Soderstrom wasn’t in for Sandin on that goal, he would’ve easily stopped the Russian player streaking in.

Sandin looks like Jake Gardiner out there.

you could argue Sandin was 100% responsible for them losing in overtime, because without him they'd have been demolished in regulation

yeah darn Sandin only putting up 4 points, clearly cost his team the game...

Can't believe he was on the ice for 3 goals against through the whole tournament, what a liability...

Thank you! A reasonable Leafs fan!!!

Sandin looks to be a Jake Gardiner clone!

I am really impressed whenever i see him, I think he is going to be a fantastic player in the nhl. I noticed him in preseason when i checked out some leafs games and thought he looked great all tournament.

As a canucks fan who desperately wanted pettersson and hughes i will point out both received criticism in wjc and did not always live up to expectations, hughes If memory serves me had a costly giveaway last year in a big game, sandin will be fine, dont get to or high or low on prospects in these short tournaments and dont live and die on a mistake. Unfortunately these kids are under such a huge microscope in a very short sample size where everyone dissects every play, which is ok imo if you keep it in context and evaluate the player as a whole (even beyond just this tournament). And overall I thought sandin looked very good.

We will see if im wrong or not in the future.

The reason couldn't possibly be that he has actually in fact been the best overall d-man in the tourney? I have a feeling when they name the best defensemen tomorrow we might be hearing his name again.

Romanov has been better overall, but Sandin stands a chance as a 2-peat is quite rare. Loved his play.

Just ignore the people blaming the goal on Sandin. He probably could have read the play a bit better but he was gassed and I don't think he realized that his team was in the middle of a change which allowed the Russian player with that route around Sandin. If the guy was where Sandin thought he was (closer to Sandin) the Russian wouldn't have had the room to get between the two of them.

What? The guy started at his own blue line. It was as clean a 1 on 1 as it gets. He got beat. It wasn't anyone else's fault but Sandin. Doesn't change how good he was otherwise.
Who cares he will be a Leaf soon. Enjoy
