Watched some of his highlights from the last two seasons, and wow, he is just so good. It was funny how on one of his goals even his own teammate just looked up in awe like "goddamn, what was that". In terms of entertainment, he brings it all, goals, dangles, and big hits. Can't wait to see him in the NHL.

He's extremely dynamic and talented.....the fake slap pass with a sliding puck was incredibly high risk but looked almost effortless for him. Not only will you see NHL players not even attempt it, but flub those type of plays with some regularity.

It's early but he's the best D prospect I've seen since Hedman, since I started following prospects closely. I'd rank him above Hedman in their analogous draft years, if we're judging based on what I've seen so far.

A team is going to hit the jackpot with him next year....

The way he makes shooting lanes is ridiculous.

This is what makes him extra special in my opinion. He's a great skater and a great passer of the puck, can skate it out of the zone. The extra dimension that so few other players have is that he can create scoring chances out of point situations with his superb agility, just walk past the forward and get into a better shooting position. You know the moves can come but there is still no way to stop it because he can go in any direction with such ease.

This added with his almost nonchalantness and creativity makes him so special.
With the nochalantless i mean the way he just never looks fazed and it doesn't matter who's coming at him. Could be 3 guys forechecking him and he just won't play or look stressed. Kinda like EK65 in a sense. Could have 3 guys forechecking at him and he'll still play comfortably, confidently and relaxed. Just a beauty to watch.

Have to question some of the "Men" D in that league. He's very creative, but there are no D or any that last long in the NHL that would get beat like those pylons.

Dunno about that, the SHL has some pretty good defensemen, way better than what most of Dahlin's contemporaries are facing. To compare them to NHL defensemen is just hyperbolic.

I mean, I've seen him beat Sebastian Aho, Andreas Borgman, Chabot of the top of my head. There's more though. But to be fair, 2 of them are in the AHL right now but should be in the NHL very soon. but we'll see how long careers they have, lol.
Just watch at the world juniors.

I have been watching Frölunda occassionaly this season, and while Dahlin has generally speaking been amazing I get a little bit weary of the lack of devils advocates. Maybe I am paranoid, but this worries me. Reminds me of the old Benjamin Franklin quote; "if we are all thinking alike, noone is thinking". Hell, even with McDavid there were people that held Eichel in higher regard.

So, considering that we are talking about a 17-year old kid, what is the worst case scenario? John Klingberg? David Rundblad?

I don't think you have been reading up a lot in this thread (or the earlier one) if you think everyone is on the same wavelength here. A lot of "Defensemen are hard to predict" posts and comparisons have been made both in these two threads and others around the board. And it has also been disproven that people (people who mattered in the hockey community) valued Eichel higher in the D-1 year IIRC.
Most scouts are viewing him as a pretty much sure thing to be a centerpiece to build a D around by now (even if he doesn't keep up the same development curve) and I would say that a Klingberg would be a disappointment at this point (especially for everyone who watches him regularly). He is just too big, skilled and smart at 17 year of age to not succeed greatly even if he doesn't manage to fully live up to the hype to become the second coming of Bourque

Had a pretty rough game so far in my opinion. Some poor decisions with the puck and he also couldn't quite control the puck like he'd have liked.

Disagree i saw him on the PP and made smart passes

Mostly talking about his own zone here. He had several giveaways and struggled with having little time vs forecheck.

Well he is 17 and playing on national team and scored a point. Wont hurt his draft stock.
I doubt he could fall off #1OA with this and that's not even what I was suggesting. It'd help if you read my posts and didn't argue against imaginary shadows.
