Unless the draft has McDavid this kid needs to be a #1.
Potential dominating 30min blueliner.
He wrote a piece on here about why, it has nothing to do with Dahlin. It's just the positional aspect and in how his eyes you shouldn't draft defensemen number 1.
I don't agree with it, but it's a good read.

He'll go one, their is no potential franchsie center to compete with. No one will go with the winger over the potential franchise D, unless their is one with Ovechkin like hype attached.

It is hard to ignore the fact that Dahlin is this good and dominant in a professional league, arguably 3rd best in the world. Maybe 4th.

I have nothing against Svechnikov, but playing in the USHL and OHL is a lot easier.

Not implying anything but it's still interesting to think about what Svechnikov could've done in the KHL after Tolvanens insane showing seeing how his numbers were better last season.
But really at this point, i just don't see any scenario where Dahlin doesn't go number 1, he has just turned on another gear after last season. Wonder what he has in store for us in the playoffs, that's if Frölunda can make it lol.

Have you seen the Habs start to the season? It would be the only silver lining to an otherwise nightmare season. This Habs fan is praying for my avatar to become reality.

I would prefer any team outside the Atlantic. ;-)

I'd rather Dahlin go to the Yotes. They'd have a decent D core(if they keep OEL)

OEL
Hjalmarsson
Chychrun
Dahlin
Demers

Should be a decent core to work with

Of course you would!! However, I look at it this way:
Tampa has had their Stamkos & Hedman.
Toronto has Matthews.
Buffalo has Eichel.
Florida has had top picks that are not elite but close to superstar level.
Boston has had superstar youngsters, but tend to trade them.
That leaves Ottawa, Detroit, and the Habs to get a shot at a possible elite player. IMHO, it's the Habs turn! lol.

Hope he goes to Vancouver so Canadian teams can start becoming powerhouses in a similar time frame.

Vancouver - Dahlin
Edmonton - McDavid
Calgary - Gaudreau
Winnipeg - Laine
Toronto - Matthews
Ottawa - Karlsson
Montreal - Price

Tampa also picked Drouin high and the Habs traded for him. Also, the Habs had Subban. Ottawa has Karlsson. It's Detroit's turn by that logic!

No it isn't the Habs turn. You had your turn when your drafted Price 5th and Chucky 3rd. It is Detroit's turn.

Detroit was blessed with countless Hall of Fame players during their 20 year run. They need to hang around the bottom a bit longer, regain the Dead Things title to remind the fans how bad it can get. You guys have had it easy for a long time.

They weren't actually "blessed" with them they found Lidström, Datsyuk and Zetterberg in later rounds aswell as other short-time key players in later rounds, they were just a LOT better at drafting than the rest of the league for quite a while.

Yeah we've had it very easy. It's been great but I'll be rooting like hell to win the lottery. I don't want to deserve it, I just want to be lucky.
