He's gonna be a star just based on his PP time, this is where he will be special. If he's ever more than average at 5v5, it's just gravy.

With 44 points in 34 games, Lane Hutson is only 3 points removed from tying Brian Leetch's historic freshman season production with BC in 87-88 (47 points in 37 games).

Please also note he's really small and not that fast.

That is really important to remember while he's putting up the best season in the last 30+ years as a freshman in US college hockey. ;)

Indeed, these points totals are not height-adjusted.
Brian Leetch is 1.85m, Lane Hutson is 1.78m.

Height adjusted points per game (HAP/g):
- Leetch: 47 x 1.85 = 86.95 HAP => 2.35 HAP/g
- Hutson: 44 x 1.18 = 51.92 HAP => 1.53 HAP/g

So, clearly not very impressive production when you factor in the HAP advanced metrics. And we haven't even adjusted (down) for SAP (speed-adjusted points).

1.18 meters makes it even more grotesque :sarcasm:

I thought Luke Hughes had more points as a freshman ? I could be wrong. I’m very likely wrong but I thought Luke set a freshman record last year. Maybe it was just a Michigan record or whatever conference they play in? Either way , Hutson is a massive pick for the Habs . Very good value with that pick. I wanted him to fall to the Devils but it was not to be. Casey hopefully can catch up to Hutson next year

In 41 games he had 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points. It might be a Michigan record for D. He is probably in top 15 for all time D as well for freshman.

Luke had most goals as a freshman dman with 17 and most pts by a Michigan freshman dman

No offense to this kid who had a truly outstanding year, but he should not be the only D man in the final 10 over Brock Faber.

Different styles for sure. For all we know Faber could easily be the more effective pro. I don’t really care about the Hobey anymore.
