I can only imagine how dominant he will be next season in college when he's bigger, stronger, faster and more experienced.

He gets in trouble sometime but rarely get scored against 5v5. He need to work on his skating to replicate it in the NHL but it's absurd how dominant he is for an 18 years old.

Brian Leetch and Adam Fox are the only 2 defencemen who have produced comparable numbers to Hutson as 18 year old freshmen in the last 4 decades of US College hockey.

It's rarefied air.

Woah ok thats something

Im so happy tonsee some of the prospects in the system dominate in juniors (college in this case).

Its not the be all end all, but omg it feels more hopeful than seeing prospects struggle at pre nhl levels

I expect his goal scoring to go down, but his point totals to remain about the same.

He shouldn't have as many goals as he does with his weak point shot, but he's been lethal in 4v4 and OT situations getting break aways and 2 on 1s.

I really want to see him improve his skating or his shooting, if he gets significantly better at both he should be better than Quinn Hughes.

We can all expect a career like Quinn Hughes. He is too talented to dont become a special player in NHL. He is already or soon a 5"10 defenseman like Hughes.. he have the same tools of Quinn Hughes.

“Billy, this is Lane Hutson.

He is one of the most dynamic offensive prospects on the blue line since Cale Makar.

His only flaw is that he is 5’8”.

He is worth a top-5 selection but we can have him at 62nd overall. “

I can't believe he fell that late in the 2nd, I thought he was a solid late 1st gamble even with the size issue. As a Habs fan it remind me of the Caufield pick in a sense.

With that said he's still far from being an impact player in the NHL but hard not to be super excited to see him turn pro in the future. Let's see if he can keep that insane ppg until the season is over, that would be mind blowing to me atleast.

Size updated at eliteprospects to 5'10" (178cm) and 161 lbs (73kg). He is getting close to his expected height pr. bone doctors.

If that's accurate and he's really 5'10, then this is huge news. That would make him as tall as Quinn Hughes.
We know the 161 lbs weight is accurate since Hutson said it himself a couple of months ago.

Hutson was listed as 5-foot-8.25, 158 pounds at the combine.

IIHF listed him at 1.75/5’9” and 70/154 for the U20.

1.75 is 5 feet and 8.9 inches, so he’s grown since the combine, but he’s not become 5’10” since December.

Quinn Hughes was listed as 1.76/5’9” and 76/168 at the 2018 World Championships in May 2018.

Always curious about this - does the IHF measure players for the WJC? Where is EliteProspects getting their measurements from? Do teams measure their players regularly and update their website?

I assume IIHF does measure them (I mean, I don’t have proof or anything but they’re reputable).

I actually look forward to them releasing their rosters because it’s the best source for this after the combine.

I don’t know when IIHF measured Lane and I don’t know how fast he grows, so he could have gotten taller since then, but getting to 5’10” would take a lot.

I’m guessing BU is generously rounding up here when they now say 5’10”. Michigan said Quinn Hughes was 5’10” when the IIHF said he wasn’t as well.

Elite Prospects gets their stats from secondary sources so they aren’t a better authority.
