How come black athletes who play sports/positions typically occupied by white players, always run into the "smart enough' criticism? In the NFL it's QB's.....A lot of players aren't smart enough to play professional sports but it seems to get pointed out a lot when it's black player.

I don't wanna accuse anybody of anything, but for me, the kid has great instincts for a guy who's been playing the position three years.

I don't get that criticism.

I have no problems admitting when I am wrong, and though I still have some concerns with Miller, overall he has impressed this season much more than I thought was possible. His WJC had a lot to be desired but his strong overall season for Wisconsin is the more important part. His mobility and skating will not be an issue at the next level but his pinching at wrong times needs to be worked on like most young dmen will as well.

I am pulling for this kid to succeed as his raw ability has to be making Rangers fans foam from their mouth at the thoughts of him in the red, white and blue in 2-3 years. I think he has even more to give, the sky is the limit here with this kid.

I do form my own opinions and my opinions is Kandre has been awesome this year and not even close to the player you described him as.

I love how everyone who disagrees with his hot takes is just "drinking the Rangers kool-aid" so to speak haha. It's just crazy. People form their own opinions, but the "Everyone is wrong except me" attitude is just hilarious

The K'Andre Miller thread might not be the best place to bring this up, but he does have a point

He had to deal with...

- playing on his off side
- playing through the flu
- playing with one of the biggest plugs/meat shields in the tournament.

That and it was a very small sample size of games.

I love how people keep overestimating the importance of a 10-day tournament over a full season at a player's team. Small sample size comparisons are a recipe for disaster and how you end up being obsessed with players like Schroeder, Kristo etc

Also his tournament was really good advanced stats wise, he just didnt put up a ton of points

What am I wrong about? Is it that I don't take orders from Jeff Gorton like some appear to do?

Some of you need to stop waving the pom-poms and make objective assessments.

Form your own opinions. Don't pick up copies of the Rangers media relations department talking points. Its why so many are on ignore. I don't have the desire to argue with team cheerleaders.

He leads Wisconsin in points as a freshman d-man. I don't need Gorton to tell me that.

I think KAndres WJC was good. He has all the tool but they are on a pile on the floor instead of in a tool box! ;)

Seriously though, I think my view on Miller has differed some from the more critical views from the start since I have felt that the most important aspects of Ds game have come along really fast for him. Getting that rhythm in place, not always making the right calls but still thinking along the right lines.

Overall he was a D IMO who were not supposed to be a stand out leader at the WJC this season. Next year should be different, I want KAndre to be a strong top 1/3 guy for the US and get a bigger role next year. And I am confident that he can do that too.

No points yesterday but he was pretty f***ing phenomenal.

Force in all three zones and controlled the play for the most part when ever he was out there. Much better game than the one on Friday where he was just alright despite the goal.

Also Emberson>>>Samuelsson.

Agree. I expected a couple quiet college years adjusting to defense at the college level and then taking off his third season. I'm sure he's way ahead of what his drafters expected and they're very happy with the pick.

I was one of the biggest K'andre' fans prior draft while some people were telling me how he was a bust in the making, how Bode Wilde or Samuselsson were so much better, I even recall one poster telling me that he couldnt skate backward while his mobility is one of his strengths lol, well, I will repeat it again, you draft this kid based on upside, his skills are raw but the potential is huge...

2 primary assists tonight in a 9-4 beating by Minnesota.

First Badger to hit 20 points, took him 21 games.

Not a night for any Dman to brag about. Atrocious defense and sloppy play by both teams. Gophers are just lucky they have a terrific goalie.

Hopefully he stays a couple more years and rounds out his defensive game. Very good coaches at Wisconsin should help him get there.

Also has some fellow D partners that are promising. Kalynuk and Emberson are talented.

Wisconsin has a terrible team this year but is going to be stacked next season, he should definitely play one more year there.
