THere are so many doubters here. This kid has a ceiling of a number 1 shutdown dman who can be on the top unit pp and provide 30-50 pts a year.

He is a great skater big body and good puck handler. Looking for a flaw in his game is one of the hardest things to find.

He sucks. Hes no good.

So what do the Oilers want for him ? Just wondering? :)

That's some lofty aspirations.......

He scored but he was awful yesterday. Dominance is a strong word.

I've never seen a report saying he has been anything less than great to dominant from this season from any credible reporter or neutral fan. Maybe last game was an exception. But he has far exceeded expectations this year

He was? He scored and was +1 while his team allowed 6 goals. Can you elaborate on how he was awful please? The other reports we've seen from fans, coaches, media folks like Button all say he's been one of the better d-men in the OHL this season.

Awful is strong. I was at the game. He was decent, but not dominant by any stretch. His goal was as weak a goal as you'll see at the junior level. And that's not a shot at him. But it was a weak, easy long shot from well out that DeKort somehow missed.

My point is stats can be deceiving. The entire Soo team got out-played and while Nurse was their best D-man in the game, he appeared to be mostly going through the motions.

A junior season is long and every prospect will have mediocre to poor games.

How has he been doing recently? Also I have seen him listed between 6'3-6'5 and between 185 and 200 lbs any body know his actual size?

Points wise, he's cooled off. Not sure about his overall play because I don't watch the OHL unless it's on Sportsnet. His size should be somewhere around 6'4 195. He was around 190 at Oilers training camp.

Any chance he makes the Oilers next year ? if they draft Ekblad it would be a crazy pairing between them. imagine a Ekblad-Nurse pairing.

If that happens the oilers will be expecting another top 5 pick next year, maybe that pairing would be good in 5-6 years but next year is a disaster waiting to happen.

I never really specified when they would be paired its possibe one of them could make the play in the NHL next year or both back in juniors. Could Nurse realistically play in the NHL next season.

I could see both players staying in junior. The only chance against it would be if we managed to sign a good mentor veteran like Boyle or Girardi, or trade for one. If that happened then ONE of those two young D could stay with the Oil. Perhaps it would depend on which side of the ice the veteran we get plays on.

Realistically he maybe could, however that wouldn't be the best thing for him or the Oilers. He's still a raw prospect and he still needs to fill out more.

If the Oilers draft Ekblad there's a very high chance he plays with us all year, for better or worse. Not what I think should happen per se but that's the way this organization seems to do things.

Could he? Yes if he gains weight and plays like he did in the preseason.

Should he? No, oilers have to break in Marincin (In the NHL currently) and possibly Klefbom. Can't have 3 rookie D

I wouldn't think it would be a smart idea to pair two rookie D men together. I would think one would be with N Schultz and the other with Smid someone else

Smart move. Clearly wasn't ready. They need to send Draisaitl down now too.

I'd keep Draisaitl until the 9th game. He's a smart player and the Oilers are weak on centers. Is he ready for the NHL? Probably yes but for long-term development I want him to work on his shot and skating.

Nurse definitely needs another year in the AHL/juniors.

I think it was the right move. He's better off developing in OHL than being thrown in off the deep end. It's possible he would have done well in the NHL but you can't gamble with players as talented as he is.

Yea I would say with how bad the situation is in Edmonton get this kid the hell out and get Leon back to PA soon as well.
