And there we go...

Basically confirming that old regime guys were indeed marginalized, though anyone who's following closely could tell.

Is having too many voices the thing that makes decision-making "cumbersome"? Sounds like they just didn't want the dissenting opinions around anymore.

There's going to be an attempt on Bo Horvat's life, from Benning agents (though no one can confirm it), but he will be saved by a kindly new janitor at Rogers, with eye bags and a neck goatee. For the rest of the year he will watch over Bo and provide him with sage advice, and then next year when the Aquilinis clean house, he will cast off his coveralls and reveal that HE WAS MIKE GILLIS ALL ALONG.

Sounds like something from Star Wars. Obi Wan watching over young Luke Skywalker.

Pure conjecture, but I suspect Gilman has been vocally critical of the decisions being made, given how wonderfully brilliant his cap management was until Benning waltzed and destroyed it all. So that meant he had to go. The idiocy of our management has reached the point of comical. We really are becoming Edmonton; employ only friends and relatives.

And in keeping with the Stars Wars theme... the nepotism is strong with this one.

It was Sekeres and Price opinion. IE they felt that Linden and Benning have shown exasperation this week with the fans opinions of their moves.

If they're reading this board, they should rightly be exasperated with the ****ups they've made at seemingly almost every turn.

So much for it being a conspiracy theory to think Gilman and Crawford's role had been marginalized this year.

No point in digging up those posts - to be fair, it was speculation then. Just a proven fact now.

This is the ****ing owners again.

Gilman and crew were probably vehemently speaking out against the stupidity that is the current trajectory of the franchise, and the philosophy of what sort of team is successful in this NHL.

Owners know they won't be successful, so they shed some salary to save coin in lieu of inevitable revenue losses and get rid of dissenting opinions all in one foul swoop. And of course, Linden goes forth like the moronic puppet he is and plays PR spokesman. Keep on doing that damage control, Linden. See if you aren't run out of this city.

This is it. I'm ****ing done with this team until the owners sell. Hire these incompetent buffoons and rid themselves of dissenting opinions. This is a joke.

We are the Edmonton Oilers. What a joke. Clowns should stick to contracting and let hockey people make hockey decisions. I can't even express how baffled I am by the lunacy that is our team right now.

You dont even need to follow the nucks closely to have seen this.

Its corporate politics 101.

And sadly Linden is at the center of it.

Why is it a "true fan" has to sit through garbage years, or be labeled a bandwagoner? I watch hockey to be entertained, not waste three hours every other night to watch a team I've supported get its teeth kicked in. Choosing not to watch games with any degree of regularity is not renouncing ones' fandom. They're just finding better things to do with their time.

If I have learnt anything in this short life it is that it is far far better to be a casual fan of things... Die hards go through a heap of pain over what is a form of entertainment. While the bandwagoner gets to ride a waive of good times and then gets to hop off and enjoy other things without being brought down by bad times...

I don't believe this was remotely the owners.

This was pretty clearly a schism between the Gillis-regime guys who were befuddled by what was happening (see Gilman's reaction to the Sbisa/Dorsett signings) and the Benning 'gut feel' new regime.

right at the end of the Really Dark Days in edmonton, in reaction to the vitriol, there were literally oilers plants shilling for lowe at the top of their lungs. social media companies hired to make it look less unanimous about how badly people hated the management

I was under the impression that after Crawford was brought on, our OHL scouting improved leaps and bounds

And the reason I say leaps and bounds is because our scouting is brutal.

People cling to this as fact...but really, it was one draft that is looking pretty good right now. Not sure how deeply convinced of Crawford's brilliance we ought to really be. We know he and the Pro Scouting outfit brought us some real duds along the way as well.

Regardless...this is quite clearly a housecleaning of "Gillis regime guys".

I said last summer Linden would destroy his legacy in Vancouver. Buckle up. This should be fun.
