Speculation: Larkin trade return

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
That just leaves more questions. Do they move on from Robertson or do they fit him and Larkin? Would be tough for Dallas but there is always a way. I am all for getting Robertson, just don't see it happening.
Could be Robertson for Larkin.
Could be Robertson somewhere, and seperate trade for Larkin.

I'll just be happy to have the Larkin thing end and other fans keep expecting us to take crap for Larkin for reasons.

For a short term move, sure. But I think that's a mistake. All this does is guarantee Detroit is paying a lot of money for Robertson to not make the playoffs.

It would have to be a precursor to something else. Like the one guy said, if you're going to be aggressive, be really aggressive. If you fail, everyone should know it's the end of the line.

Land Robertson, pay the price for Zacha from Boston. Extend DeBrincat. Find a way to trade Cossa and stuff for winger help, sign offer sheets until your hands bleed.

This may be an unpopular take, but if this amounts to a trade of Dylan Larkin for Jason Robertson, I don't think that's going to end well for Detroit... unless the Wings somehow unearth a much better center than anybody currently on their roster.
Maybe, maybe not. But when you only have so many options due to a NMC... you could do a lot worse than a 6'3 26 year old thats had three 40 goal seasons (Two 45 or higher), a 106 point season and a 96 point season. Its been 30 years since a red wing had 100 points so to get one out of the Larkin situation is definitely not the worst thing, even if it doesnt work out great in the end.

You really gotta hope Kasper, Danielson or Finnie become at least 2nd line center types, and then maybe youre doing ok.

If Dallas makes the trade I would expect it to be with salary moving out though and more of a Harley's 10.5 coming back with some sweeteners like Bourque and Bischel.

Its hard to trade wingers for comparable centers... but if you have a defence with Seider, Ed, Harley, ASP, both Johansons and some of the prospects the wings have coming, you can make a package for a stud center

As the owner of Jason Robertson in a keeper league, that's not going to end well for my fantasy team either. Boo this idea.

Wonder if Bourque would be someone we want in the deal somehow. I assume Washington called about Robo. Either the price to trade or salary may have been a turn off. That or Dallas maybe close to just re-signing him. If not they will flip him and use some of the capital to go for Larkin.

I think since day two since request Dallas been in there. Hence the three team trade rumors. Who knows maybe teams still low balling.

Dallas wants Robertson contract done and Larkin? Cool wtf you have to give us besides Bourque and bichsel lol no top 10 picks … 0 chance they give up Harley …. I don’t know man
Hintz Bourque bichsel , throw them Faulk but they won’t do that

I think Buffalo is not done. My prediction (hope) is they move the 4th overall pick and Josh Norris' contract (Michigan guy, young, center, but always injured) for Larkin. I just don't see Buffalo keeping that pick.

Then I think they make a move for Helly involving Krebs. Will they both be willing to go to Buffalo is the thing.

I wouldn’t hate this. Though I’d want more than the 4th and Norris. Throw in Helenius please. Norris is just the money out.

They want the Robertson situation resolved; is the way I am interpreting that. Either he's extending and that is their main move, or they are trading him and the priority is getting Larkin back to fill the vacancy.

Unlikely they could manage both.

The way I heard it, they want Larkin independent of Robertson.

I am not sure why everyone keeps saying Robertson wouldn’t do as well in Detroit. As well, sure. He is still Dallas’s best forward and has been for like five years…I would be ecstatic with him. He knows how to score and his game isn’t built on speed at all so he will have no issues with longevity.

Larkin for Robertson’s rights + Bischel would be a slam dunk imo.

It's wild to read or listen to Wings fans say stuff like that. Folks just got done flipping their collective shit over missing the playoffs again, and you wanna do it some more?!

I'll be happy when it's over (the sooner, the better!), but I'm also prepared for it to go one for a while.

I dunno how I would feel about a three way deal and you don't get Robertson.
I'd feel pretty shitty about that. I might even be done with whatever the Yzerplan is supposed to be now.

I'm speaking based off the text in the tweet, not the actual audio. However, they have a star winger due for an 8 year contract for $12+ million and Larkin is on a good value, but is still $9ish million.

Those two combined will easily exceed $20 million of new salary, and they currently have about $10 million to work with. Even moving Harley in a trade for Larkin will leave them short on the defensive end and still as tight to the cap as possible.

The moves are probably related whether they want them or not.

Why are they allowed to trade for Kyrou?????? Why would he accept a trade to a team that's not contending????

We were talking about the hypothetical of trading Larkin for a quality winger and if that could work. You came in and said we're not allowed to do that. The REASONS people will come here is because we are discussing hypotheticals in which we trade for them

Show me where I said you can't do anything?

nothing to read into those comments

Maybe it’s the attorney in me, but it always blows me away that people try to read into these comments. Like whether we are or are not trying to improve the current roster, that’s not something Sweeney is going to break publicly. Not to mention the phrasing is as vague as it gets.

I’d say 0% it would be AND bichsel . We’d have to include Faulk/asp etc…

Most likely won't get him. He's gotta agree to come lol which at this point isn't on the cards. Things could change but doubt it. We want youth which is probably better for the team long term.

Would love robo tho. Who wouldn't.
