Speculation: Larkin trade return

  • If you are having issues logging in, we have found opening the log in page in a new tab/window rather than using the pop out should resolve these issues. We are working to get this resolved and thank you for patience.
  • Due to the increased volume of league transactions, the Trade Rumors and Free Agent Talk section is temporarily restricted to where threads may only be started by moderators and sponsors. We anticipate that this restriction will be lifted some time after the first round of the draft.
If anything Larkin might be fumbling the bag during crunch time here (sound familiar?) if he limits the options too much while this surge of activity is happening. If he handcuffs Yzerman with only a handful of teams who can't afford to pay the market price and then this flurry of activity slows down which it inevitably has to, then yeah maybe a real chance Larkin is stuck in a Red Wings jersey come fall. In which case better invest in a good pair of ear plugs for all home games, buddy.

I don't think that is a worry. There are multiple teams who want good centers and only Tkachuk who isn't even a true center has moved. Some teams no longer having a need, also means the others could theoretically have even more push to get him, as bigger names to acquire are less.

Ottawa flipped ONE of four picks to bring in a replacement for Brady. Yes hes small, and doesnt have the same nasty edge that Brady does. But it would be like if we traded larkin for 3 firsts and a second, and then flipped that 9th OA for robert thomas. Hes not quite as good as larkin, but I dont think a single person would be unhappy with flipping larkin for thomas, 2 firsts and a second
Are you okay? Robert Thomas is significantly better than Larkin ….

We might need to change Yzerman on the phone with a face with a robbery to Yzerman with his arms crossed into a meme
5 seconds in ai. work? lol

Man, I was happy with the idea of just Desnoyers as the center piece. After today, my brain is genuinely going, “can Yzerman get Desnoyers AND Iginla?”

Lmao
There's a benefit to letting other teams trade first. The price of Larkin was believed to be lower just a few days ago. Remember when people were salivating over Lundell?

2027 draft picks are being thrown around but what happens when the draft is over? Are we happy with 4 picks for Larkin in 2027? The recent trade movement just makes me feel the most value you’re going to get is in draft capital…. Unless you wheel and deal those picks but I’m not holding my breath and if those picks aren’t for this 2026 draft then they have way less appeal to teams

the sheer volume of trades happening is worrying me a little bit

I could see the market just kinda drying up at this rate
I'm not seeing any moves that make teams done with their offseason. Utah, Minnesota, Dallas, Vegas.. lots of teams who should have interest in Larkin who still have not done anything.

Yeah and Robertson is gonna get figured out before the draft, apparently hes meeting with Dallas soon for their final offer before trades are figured out.

These prices just go to show what Larkin should return in a trade and not rush it. Yurov, Stramel and a first was getting thrown around seriously on here by some people lol

Why? No big center has moved. Tkachuk is the only player that went to a contender and he isn't a center. The trades that happened have mostly been for futures and teams Larkin wasn't going to anyways.
Yeah, I'm thinking the next two deals will be a sign and trade with Tuch and Reilly going to San Jose or Seattle. Neither of which impacts the Larkin deal.

I'd actually love Minnesota to get frustrated and spend on Trocheck instead. But you are correct no reason to worry until those others start to spend.

Hey Dylan, your three team list if officially toast.
